Job Description
Participate in all phases of application development projects including, feasibility, evaluation, project estimation, requirements recommendations, functional specification, technical/interface design, programming, testing, implementation, and production deployment.
Primary Responsibilities and/or Essential functions:
  • Building Applications - Demonstrates in-depth understanding of the software development lifecycle, proficiency in appropriate programming languages, and expertise in application development tools. Develops and refines applications to meet project requirements efficiently through deployment.
  • Customer/Team Support - Provides field escalated support calls from Helpdesk, Users, IS Managers and other IS personnel. Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing, with customers and management. Trains clients on smaller in-house applications and partners with trainers to develop training programs.
  • Buy vs. Build Decisions/Analysis - Researches third-party applications on the market that fulfill requirements, or determine whether in-house development is warranted. Recommends system solutions by evaluating advantages and disadvantages of custom development and purchased alternatives.
  • Project Management - Develops project plan by estimating timelines, defining scope, and establishing budget constraints. Partners with clients to understand requirements, documents processes, and builds effective project team.
  • Skills Development and Continuous Learning - Upskills job knowledge by researching new development technologies and software products; participating in educational opportunities and professional organizations; reading professional publications; and maintaining personal networks. Works with Manager to develop skill-building plans and shares knowledge and learning with team members.
  • Testing/Implementation - Conducts unit testing to address obvious bugs and ensure consistent functionality per requirements before review by manager or end-users; collaborates with other team members to test within the development team to ensure high quality product. Coordinates development of test plan and testing with QA team (or end-users) as needed.
  • Performs any other responsibilities or special projects as assigned by management.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • 5+ years' experience in programming and database design.
  • Proven track record of application development in a PC/Windows/networked environment.
  • Must have programming and analytical skills with knowledge of structured programming techniques, rapid application development methodologies and event driven programming.
  • Experience in developing applications using the current OS/application development tool set.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft web development technologies (C#, Visual Studio, ASP, .NET), HTML, JavaScript/jQuery required. Experience with Vue.js, Angular, Node.js and SharePoint/SharePoint Online a plus
  • Knowledge of secure coding practices (e.g., input validation, secure authentication/authorization, protection against common vulnerabilities such as SQL injection and XSS).
  • Relational database design and development, with hands-on experience in Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL, query optimization, schema design)
  • Preferred experience using Microsoft Exchange APIs, Microsoft Office Add-ins frameworks (COM/Visual Studio Tools for Office) and Windows applications
  • Experience developing and deploying cloud-hosted applications with Microsoft Azure
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools (Copilot, Claude Code)
  • Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
  • Ability to convey thoughts and ideas clearly and effectively in written and verbal form.
  • Proven experience with troubleshooting principles, methodologies and issue resolution techniques.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives or activities, and effectively make judgments in prioritizing and time allocation in a high-pressure environment.

Education/Certifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in a technical degree (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, etc.)
  • IT certifications.

Estimated salary range is $160,000 - $180,000. This position is bonus eligible. Compensation decisions within the range are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case including but not limited to the individual's skills, experience, and qualifications.
