Position Summary:The Engineering Technician will be responsible for the design, operation, maintenance, modification, testing, and improvement of industrial facilities, equipment, devices, operations, and processes requiring a diversified and integrated knowledge of mechanical, electrical, electronic, chemical, and industrial engineering technology principles and practices. This role independently interprets, selects, adapts, applies to a variety of guidelines and engineering practices specific to facility operations, modifications, adjustments, and maintenance of all support processes and equipment. Additionally, the Industrial Engineering Technician collects and analyzes engineering data and makes sound engineering decisions or compromises in optimizing, adjusting, correcting, designing, maintaining, and modifying controls, settings, procedures, equipment, processes, and systems applicable to large, complex, prototypical operations involving metal plating, water purification and recycling, pollution control equipment, chemical handling, and waste disposal systems.Position Responsibilities:Troubleshoot complex problems related to the above systems/sub-systems, exercising considerable judgment, expertise, ingenuity, and creative thinking to devise alternative means to accomplish objectives by adapting existing systems, equipment, controls, and techniques to solve novel problems.Assist Engineers, Chemists, and higher-level professionals on the team.Assist with developing statements of work for obtaining service contracts and developing cost estimates for contract or in-house employees.Initiate service calls and monitor contract/contractor performance.Maintain an inventory of tools, parts, equipment, consumables, and supplies necessary to support operations and maintenance and submit related budgetary information to the supervisor.Independently determine needs and suggest and select supplies, tools, equipment, services, and sources required to support industrialized operations and processes.Position Requirements:Two year Associate of Science (AS) Degree in relevant technical discipline from an accredited college or universityDemonstrated Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, electronic, chemical, and industrial engineering technology principles and practices sufficient to collect and analyze engineering data and make sound engineering decisions or compromises in optimizing, adjusting, correcting, designing, maintaining, and modifying controls, settings, procedures, equipment, processes, and systems within the Industrial Operations Facility.Demonstrated ability to apply engineering methods and techniques, including knowledge of the construction, application, properties, operation, and limitations of engineering systems, processes, structures, machinery, devices, and materials, as required by the applicable series definition and reference standards.Working knowledge of industrial operations, maintenance practices, and process controls associated with manufacturing, chemical handling, water purification, recycling, pollution control, and waste disposal systems.Physical Demands:This work may require periods of walking, standing, bending, climbing, or driving a motor vehicle in activities such as inspections or installed equipment and visits to construction sites and industrial, commercial, agricultural, and other business establishments.
