Primary Purpose of the Organization:
The Office of Career Services is seeking a motivated Graduate Assistant-Career Services Intern to support students and recent graduates in their career development. The Graduate Assistant will assist with individual student appointments, workshops, employer events, and the daily operations of the office. This role is ideal for a graduate student interested in higher education, counseling, human resources, or related fields.
Primary Purpose of the Position:
Duties and Responsibilities
Student Support & Advising
  • Provide one-on-one and small group assistance with résumés, cover letters, job and internship searches, and basic interview preparation.
  • Support students in using career tools and platforms (e.g., Handshake, LinkedIn, career assessments).
  • Offer walk-in and scheduled appointment support under the supervision of professional staff.
  • Refer students to professional staff for advanced or specialized career counseling as needed.

Workshops, Programs, and Events
  • Co-facilitate or lead workshops on topics such as résumé writing, interview skills, networking, and career exploration.
  • Assist with planning, coordination, and logistics for career fairs, employer panels, information sessions, and other events.
  • Support classroom presentations and outreach events for student organizations and campus partners.

Employer and Campus Relations
  • Assist with scheduling employer information sessions, tabling events, and on-campus/virtual interviews.
  • Greet and support employer representatives during visits and career events.
  • Help maintain employer records and contact information in the career management system.
  • Collaborate with academic departments, student organizations, and other campus offices to promote career programming.

Administrative and Assessment Support
  • Assist with monitoring and responding to the career services email inbox and phone inquiries.
  • Maintain accurate student appointment records and notes in the career management system, adhering to confidentiality guidelines.
  • Support data collection and reporting related to appointments, events, and student outcomes.
  • Assist with surveys, feedback forms, and basic assessment projects to improve services.

Marketing and Outreach
  • Help create and distribute promotional materials (flyers, digital signage, emails, social media content) to advertise services and events.
  • Contribute ideas and content for career services social media channels and newsletters.
  • Conduct short classroom or organization announcements to increase awareness of career services.

Other Responsibilities
  • Attend staff meetings, training, and professional development sessions as required.
  • Participate in special projects aligned with office priorities and the intern's professional interests.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Must be currently enrolled or accepted into a graduate program at FSU.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications (Microsoft Office or Google Workspace).

Knowledge skills and abilities:
