Azure Application Developer
Location: Chicago, IL (Partial Remote)
Job Type: Contract
About the Role
Join a dynamic team as an Azure Application Developer driving the backend development of a cloud-native evidence platform. You'll play a pivotal role in building secure, scalable applications that power compliance and audit processes for a major enterprise. If you thrive on architecting robust Azure solutions, hands-on coding, and integrating cutting-edge technology, this is the perfect opportunity to elevate your career and make a measurable impact.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop backend Azure applications focused on high-performance and reliability
- Build, optimize, and maintain APIs and serverless functions using Azure cloud services
- Implement and manage database integrations, third-party system connections, and data pipelines
- Create API ingestion pipelines with Azure API Management, ensuring validation, schema enforcement, and rate limiting
- Develop event-driven workflows with Azure Service Bus and Azure Functions
- Set up immutable artifact storage with Azure Blob Storage and Azure Cosmos DB
- Integrate Azure Key Vault for advanced encryption and security
- Produce Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform for all deployed resources
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience building production workloads on Azure
- Proven expertise in event-driven, API-centric architectures
- Strong development skills with Azure Functions, Storage Accounts, Service Bus, Key Vault, and Terraform
- Proficiency in Node.js and Python for backend application logic
- Demonstrated experience with immutable or append-only storage patterns
- Deep understanding of Azure application architecture and component integration
Preferred Skills
- Azure Security Engineer Associate, AWS Security Specialty, CISSP, or CCSP certifications
