Apple Service Engineering (ASE)’s Compute team is seeking an experienced software engineer to build and enhance the way teams across Apple deploy their workloads on Kubernetes clusters. You will work with world-class engineers on core components of Kubernetes with an emphasis on controllers and infrastructure to optimize efficiency while engaging with the upstream community to drive Apple’s requirements. Ultimately, you will help build the platform that delivers our applications at scale to our end users.
Description
As part of the ASE Compute organization, you will:
* Partner with teams across Apple to develop features and functionality that enable Kubernetes clusters to meet their needs around container orchestration.
* Improve the scalability, availability, and performance of our services centered around Kubernetes
* Evolve the design and architecture to support continued growth while ensuring customer satisfaction and smooth operations
* Partner with SRE to triage, investigate, and remediate production issues
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to drive a project from a simple idea to production
Ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering-related field, or equivalent related experience.
5+ years of experience in distributed systems, container orchestration, or cloud infrastructure engineering.
Strong experience with building and scaling core components of Kubernetes or similar orchestration systems
Experience with Kueue, Yunikorn or related technologies to increase efficiency of Kubernetes clusters preferred
Highly proficient in Golang
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $175,000 and $308,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
