Job description

Herbicide Applicator Technician

Herbicide Technicians are responsible for vegetation management services including spraying, cutting, trimming, and removal of weeds, grass, and brush for a variety of public and private clients. Work is performed using equipment such as spray trucks, ATVs, backpack sprayers, and hose systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform and document all required DOT vehicle inspections; identify and troubleshoot issues with trucks and spray systems, reporting any needed repairs
  • Maintain all vehicles and equipment in a clean, organized, and operational condition
  • Operate and calibrate spray equipment in accordance with company standards (training provided)
  • Identify common weed, grass, and brush species (training provided)
  • Apply herbicides safely and effectively while following all label requirements and safety protocols
  • Develop a working knowledge of herbicides, application methods, and target vegetation to meet client expectations
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines, environmental regulations, and company procedures

Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Valid driver's license with 5 years of clean driving record.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, background, and/or MVR check.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.
  • 2 years of verifiable outdoor work experience.
  • Previous herbicide application experience is required.
  • Must possess a valid Pesticide Applicator License in Category 6 (Right-of-Way)
  • Availability to work 12–14-hour days, 50-60 hours a week during the season.
  • Able to complete math problems using multiplication and division.
  • Must be able to operate a smart phone – using email, text, apple or google maps, and various other communication apps.
  • Operate various power tools to include chainsaws, weed eaters, and leaf blowers.
