Job description

Position Summary

Base-2 Solutions is seeking an Appian Software Developer/Integrator to contribute to the design, development, deployment, and operation of a DoD-wide TCPED workflow management platform for Open Source Intelligence (OSINT). The role involves integrating off-the-shelf and new development efforts, leveraging cloud computing, AI, ML, and cross-domain transfer systems to enhance mission-focused big data analytics tools and micro-service development. The position is primarily on-site in Bethesda, MD, with a flexible schedule and occasional remote work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work with a team of system integration engineers to successfully deploy release candidates to production environment.
  • Participate in test, staging, and production deployment.
  • Integrate container-based Appian using Kubernetes, Rancher, Helm, and other DevOpsSec integration tools.
  • Assist in the maintenance of services and procedures for a big data pipeline including Kafka, Elasticsearch, and in-house Python/Java microservices running on Kubernetes.
  • Monitor automated system integration tests to identify failed modules and components.
  • Manage individual project priorities, deliverables, and deadlines.
  • Foster an environment of collaboration with team members to provide quality service and product to the customer.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree and 8+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6+ years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience with Appian.
  • Experience with containerization.
  • Development and/or scripting experience, especially Python and Bash.
  • Experience with DevOps practices and tools including Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tools and practices, especially Gitlab or Jenkins.
  • Experience with Agile practices.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Enthusiastic with the ability to work well on a team and a self-starter who can work independently.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with systems at scale.
  • Experience with Kafka or other message passing systems.
  • Experience on a production/enterprise system.
  • Cloud infrastructure experience.
  • Appian certification.
  • Experience with Java, Kubernetes monitoring (e.g., Prometheus/Grafana), Appian integration with PostgreSQL or other DBs, SALT for deployment automation, GraphQL, Elasticsearch, Kibana, and Logstash (specifically admin experience), Helm and Helmfile.
  • Possess at least one DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II or higher certification, e.g., CCNA Security, CySA+, Security+ CE, SSCP, CISSP (or Associate).
  • Ability to obtain Privileged User Account (PUA) certification per DoD 8570 policy.
Required Education and Experience Equivalency
  • Bachelor's Degree with 8+ years of experience.
  • Masters with 6+ years of experience.
Required Certifications
  • DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II or higher certification (e.g., CCNA Security, CySA+, Security+ CE, SSCP, CISSP or Associate).
  • Ability to obtain Privileged User Account (PUA) certification per DoD 8570 policy.
Required Security Clearance
  • Active Top Secret/SCI
