Both roles require similar educational backgrounds and are found in tech-driven environments, but their project focus and skill sets differ slightly.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an App Development Intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as an App Development Intern, you need a solid understanding of programming fundamentals, mobile development frameworks, and a relevant degree or coursework in computer science or related fields. Familiarity with tools such as Android Studio, Xcode, Git, and experience with languages like Java, Kotlin, or Swift are typically required. Strong problem-solving abilities, teamwork, and effective communication help you learn quickly and collaborate on projects. These skills and qualities are crucial for contributing effectively to development teams and delivering high-quality app solutions.

What types of projects and technologies are App Development Interns commonly involved with during their internship?

As an App Development Intern, you can expect to work on a variety of real-world projects, such as building new features, fixing bugs, and improving user interfaces for mobile or web applications. You'll likely collaborate with full-time developers, designers, and product managers, gaining hands-on experience with technologies like Swift, Kotlin, React Native, or Flutter. Interns often participate in code reviews and agile workflows, which help develop both technical and teamwork skills. This exposure prepares you for more advanced roles and gives you valuable insight into the end-to-end app development process.

What does an App Development Intern do?

An App Development Intern assists in designing, coding, testing, and debugging mobile or web applications under the supervision of experienced developers. They typically work with programming languages like Java, Swift, or JavaScript, and may use frameworks such as React Native or Flutter. Job description

What we do
  • We build a consumer app with a strong focus on product quality and fast iteration. Small team, high ownership, real production impact
Responsibilities
  • Build and ship core app experiences end-to-end (screens, state, networking, navigation)
  • Integrate with backend APIs to deliver key user flows (auth, feed, interactions, etc.)
  • Improve performance and reliability: startup time, smooth scrolling, memory usage, crash-free sessions
  • Work closely with product/design/engineering to iterate quickly and make strong trade-offs
  • Help prototype and integrate AI-powered features (scope depends on the project)
Requirements
  • App development experience (required): React Native / Flutter / native iOS / native Android - able to ship production-grade screens and integrate APIs
  • Strong fundamentals in software engineering: clean code, modularity, debugging, and Git-based collaboration
  • Solid understanding of mobile/client fundamentals: network requests, caching, async programming, and performance profiling
  • AI/ML knowledge (required): familiar with classic + modern model families and how they're used in products (e.g., CNN/RNN/Transformer, LLMs, multimodal models). Can reason about capabilities, limitations, and practical integration patterns
  • Strong communication and a "ship-it" mindset in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience shipping a 01 mobile app or owning a feature end-to-end
  • Familiarity with on-device ML concepts, model inference constraints, or edge optimization
  • Experience with experimentation/metrics, analytics instrumentation, or A/B testing
  • Backend exposure (APIs, databases, caching) is a plus but not required

Hourly Pay for Intern: $40-$50
