Responsibilities
  • Reviews project, prime contract, and subcontract details for specifications and quality requirements.
  • Supports quality activities aligned with project scope as per the contract terms and conditions.
  • Performs visual examination, witnesses, monitors, and documents as per project quality and inspection testing plans (ITPs).
  • Observes the functioning of installed equipment or systems to determine hazards and the need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
  • Acts as a liaison with craft/staff personnel to provide technical assistance as needed.
  • Verifies trade contractor compliance with their quality program and contract documents.
  • Provides support for daily quality assurance/quality coordinator (QA/QC) activities with construction activities.
  • Stays current with industry practices and technology and seeks new and innovative construction methods and processes.
  • Provides support to field management to ensure the protection of finished work.
  • Develops and maintains strong customer-focused relationships with all stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • Tradesperson or bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related discipline.
  • Regulatory and compliance certifications are required based on the field of discipline and are considered an asset (e.g., Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) level I, II or III certification, Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Level 1, API (American Petroleum Institute) 510/570/653 inspector).
  • Basic knowledge of the construction industry; understands specifications, methods, and procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of codes related to the construction industry.
  • Basic construction inspection skills.
  • Basic understanding of internal project quality assessment process.
  • Strong planning, organization, and time-management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize own work.
  • Strong record-keeping skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective customer-focused relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Basic computer skills with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other software as required.
