Job description

At Primus Workforce Ltd. We provide safety- minded, experienced personnel support throughout the oil & gas, construction and technical trades sectors to our clients' long-term and short-term contingency needs. We are a growing and dynamic company to work with providing you with the key to your future success.

We are currently seeking experienced Quality Control Level 2 Inspectors for a shutdown in the Fort McMurray area. Day shift and night shift positions are available.

Project Details

  • Location: North of Fort McMurray
  • Project Duration: 4 to 6 weeks
  • Position: Temporary – Turnaround
  • Start Date: Immediate
  • Shifts: Day Shift and Night Shift
  • Schedule: 6 days on / 1 day off
  • Shift Length: 12 hours per day
  • Camp accommodations provided
  • Charter flights provided from Calgary and Edmonton

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform visual inspections of pressure vessels, heat exchangers, piping, welds, and related components
  • Review drawings, specifications, procedures, and inspection requirements
  • Monitor welding activities and identify welding defects or quality concerns
  • Verify work is completed in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements
  • Coordinate and review NDE activities as required
  • Complete accurate and detailed inspection reports and quality documentation
  • Prepare and review Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), travel sheets, and turnover documentation
  • Work closely with field supervision, trades, client representatives, and other QC personnel
  • Identify and communicate quality issues in a timely manner
  • Maintain accurate and organized project quality records

Qualifications & Experience

  • Current CSA W178.2 Level 2 certification
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the visual inspection of pressure vessels, heat exchangers, piping, or related equipment
  • Previous turnaround or shutdown experience preferred
  • Previous experience with pressure vessels and heat exchangers is a strong asset
  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, specifications, and inspection documentation
  • Strong understanding of welding processes and common welding defects involving carbon steel, stainless steel, and various alloys
  • Working knowledge of applicable Alberta Safety Codes and ASME Sections II, VIII Division 1, and IX
  • Knowledge of ASME B31.3 and applicable API codes considered an asset
  • Knowledge of NDE methods including VT, PT, MT, UT, and RT
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts on a 6-on/1-off turnaround schedule
