Job Title: Laser Programmer – CNC / Sheet Metal Fabrication

Location: Katy, TX

Job Type: Full Time

Experience Level: 3+ years

About the Role

Jelec is seeking a Laser Programmer to join our Engineering / Technical Services team and support the

rollout of our new Amada EMLZ15AJPE automated fabrication system. This role is focused on programming

and process development, not machine operation. You will work directly with mechanical engineers to

translate designs into optimized, production-ready programs for our laser and turret punch systems. This is

a critical position that sits at the intersection of engineering and manufacturing, ensuring designs are

efficiently and accurately converted into fabricated components.

Key Responsibilities

Programming & Process Development

Create and optimize CNC programs for laser and turret punch operations using AP100, VPSS, or

similar nesting/CAM software

Convert engineering drawings (DXF, STEP, SolidWorks, etc.) into production-ready programs

Optimize:

o Nesting and material utilization

o Tool selection and turret configuration

o Cutting parameters and sequencing

Engineering Interface

Work closely with mechanical engineering to:

o Review part designs for manufacturability (DFM)

o Recommend design improvements to reduce cost and improve throughput

Serve as the bridge between design intent and fabrication execution

Qualification / Skills

3+ years experience in CNC programming for sheet metal fabrication

Strong experience with:

Laser cutting and/or turret punch programming

Nesting / CAM software (AP100, VPSS, or equivalent)

Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and CAD models

Understanding of:

Sheet metal fabrication processes

Material behavior (steel, stainless, aluminum
