Job description

Cybersecurity Operations Manager

Job Summary: Lafayette Group is seeking qualified and team-oriented individuals to work with federal government organizations in support of national cybersecurity programs. The Cybersecurity Operations Manager is part of a team ensuring effective collaboration between industry and government partners (including federal, state, local, tribal and territorial governments, and international partners) on cyber operational planning and defense. This position works directly with federal leads to integrate partner insights and capabilities into government plans and activities. Daily tasks may include research and analysis of threat information and ongoing incidents; coordination of crisis response plans, policies, and procedures; researching and developing recommendations on cybersecurity plans, programs, and presentations; preparing for and leading meetings with partners; conducting assessments; developing and delivering trainings and exercises; and providing technical or policy expertise regarding cyber incident response, cyber threat analysis, cyber defense planning, and cyber risk reduction.
The ideal candidate for this role is a collaborative team member with prior expertise in cybersecurity and defense operations, with an innate curiosity to learn, and the drive to excel with a team of like-minded colleagues in a high-profile, fast paced environment. This position will:
  • Lead a team of Analysts, Managers, and Subject Matter Experts to help clients solve nationally significant cybersecurity challenges.
  • Build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders; design solutions that meet client needs while addressing stakeholder concerns.
  • Apply cybersecurity expertise and domain knowledge to align client partners (including industry and state, local, and international governments) with federal operational and cyber defense activities.
  • Build synergies between client partners and government operational components to inform planning and strategic initiatives, facilitating information sharing, integrating partners into client initiatives, leveraging tools and automations to improve workflows and expedite information flow, etc.
  • Advise on strategic plans, projects, frameworks, playbooks, and tools for multiple partners and agencies.
  • Guide the development of written work products within and across areas of responsibility including strategic plans, assessments and reports, presentations, talking points, fact sheets, and white papers.
    Continue to deepen personal expertise in the field through ongoing engagement and continuous learning.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree
  • 6+ years experience with cybersecurity, such as cyber incident response, cyber defense, cloud security, cyber policy, or other applicable field
  • Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills; diplomacy and excellent listening skills
  • Possession of excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to remain open-minded, flexible and curious in problem-solving approach
  • Ability to think conceptually and strategically and learn quickly
  • Ability to build relationships and network effectively with all levels of staff, including senior leadership, both internal and on the client site
  • Experience managing complex projects in a dynamic environment, with multiple deadlines and client requirements.
  • Experience assisting in developing briefings, analyzing trends in large information sets, and providing basic recommendations on business processes and workflows
  • Ability to understand complex cybersecurity program policies/plans/directives, and then apply knowledge to project activities
  • Experience contributing to oral discussions, presenting project status, and proposing solutions to managers or clients.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

Salary Range: $95,000-125,000
