SUMMARY:

An assistant in warehouse is responsible for maintaining the required level of efficiency or safety while handling the movement of furniture and keeps record of all these materials.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES included but are not limited to:

  • Receive & unload incoming product while verifying accuracy of shipment & inspection for damages.
  • Sort and place merchandise on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, or product code. 
  • Mark materials with identifying information. 
  • Prepare merchandise for shipment, as required.
  • Open, inspect, touch-up and repackage inventory items of outgoing orders.
  • Assemble, inspect and touch up items that require pre-assembly.
  • Assist customers with merchandise pick up.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records using a computerized inventory system.
  • Utilize material handling equipmentsuch as forklifts, stockpicker
  • Communicate any inventory errors to direct supervisor.
  • Oversee assigned truck(s) during loading for accuracy and quality for loading into delivery vehicles. 
  • A warehouse assistant must follow the duties that are assigned by the supervisor or manager of the warehouse.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

WORKSKILLS: 

  • Physically manipulate and transport large and heavy items; alone, in a team and/or using proper equipment. We require to lift anything over 100 lbs. occasionally or anything between 50-100 lbs. on a frequent interval. 
  • Ability to operate power equipment such as forklift, picker, and power jack will be an asset.
  • Self-motivated, able to work well with little or no supervision and strong positive attitude.

Education and QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma, general education degree or equivalent
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and practices
  • Numeric, oral and written language applications
