Responsibilities

  • Enters customers' transactions into computer and issues tickets
  • Cashes tickets, cancels tickets and pays out winnings.
  • Counts all cash on hand at end of shift to balance to net cash responsibility.
  • Provides friendly and efficient guest service.
  • Sells vouchers and provides results and summaries as requested.
  • Ensures scheduled simulcast races are on designated monitors in the OTB. Using the designated switching system.
  • Tellers will punch tickets expeditiously and accurately.
  • Tellers will take wagers, count back change and cash winning tickets accurately.
  • Tellers will ensure all underage customers remain outside the green line.
  • Tellers will ask for proof of age from any guest who appears to be 27 or under and attempts to place a wager (follow Quality Standard "Verify ID for Wagering").
  • Tellers will assist novice wagerers with the wagering process by taking time to place and explain wagers in a friendly and non-intimidating manner.
  • Tellers will ensure that guests complete IRS forms as required.
  • Tellers will adhere to uniform grooming and appearance standards.
  • Tellers will answer or seek answers to all guest questions, including questions regarding the property, products and promotions.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Six months related experience and/or training preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Windows, Excel and Word.
  • Must be able to read and write in English and have good verbal communicating skills.
  • Basic math skills such as adding, subtracting, fractions, decimals, percentages etc.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Must be licensed by Maine Harness Racing Commission.
