Team Introduction: The GMPT-BI-DCC Data Science team supports ByteDance's global business and intelligent operations ecosystem through advanced analytics, AI systems, and scalable data workflows. Our team works at the intersection of Data Science, AI Operations, Agentic AI systems, and business intelligence to improve operational efficiency and enable intelligent decision-making across large-scale global products. We are looking for highly motivated interns who are passionate about data, AI applications, and operational excellence to join our fast-paced and collaborative international team. As a project intern, you will have the opportunity to engage in impactful short-term projects that provide you with a glimpse of professional real-world experience. You will gain practical skills through on-the-job learning in a fast-paced work environment and develop a deeper understanding of your career interests. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis - we encourage you to apply early. Successful candidates must be able to commit to at least 3 months long internship period. Responsibilities: 1. Support complex business and operational scenarios by building and optimizing data workflows, analytics pipelines, and operational monitoring systems to improve efficiency and scalability; 2. Explore and implement Agent-based AI workflows, prompt engineering strategies, and LLM-powered analytics solutions to support intelligent business operations and data-driven decision-making; 3. Participate in end-to-end AI operational projects, including data collection, annotation workflow optimization, model evaluation, experimentation, and deployment support; 4. Analyze operational and quality metrics to identify trends, root causes, and optimization opportunities across AI/data pipelines; 5. Collaborate cross-functionally with Data Scientists, Product Managers, Engineering, Operations, and global stakeholders in a highly collaborative English-speaking environment.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: - Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, or related quantitative fields; - Proficiency in SQL and experience with Python or R for data analysis, automation, or modeling; - Familiarity with Excel, data analytics workflows, and large-scale data processing tools such as Hive or Spark; - Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional environments. Preferred Qualifications: - Prior internship or project experience in data science, analytics, AI operations, business intelligence, or technical program/project management; - Familiarity with machine learning concepts, LLMs, prompt engineering, Agent workflows, or AI evaluation methodologies; - Experience with experimentation, operational analytics, quality measurement, or annotation/labeling workflows is a plus; - Comfortable working in a cross-functional and multicultural global environment; - Available to work at least 4 days per week for 3+ months. [For Pay Transparency]Compensation Description (Hourly) - Campus Intern
The hourly rate range for this position in the selected city is $35- $55.
Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Interns have day one access to health insurance, life insurance, wellbeing benefits and more. Interns also receive 10 paid holidays per year and paid sick time (56 hours if hired in first half of year, 40 if hired in second half of year). Interns who are not working 100% remote may also be eligible for housing allowance.
