Job description

ABOUT THIS ROLE

As a Senior Software Engineer II at LVT, you will own the client end-to-end, designing, building, and scaling the critical React Native and Expo applications our customers rely on daily. Operating as an individual contributor with high organizational impact, your scope extends beyond mobile boundaries to shape cross-stack architecture-connecting real-time hardware flows, GraphQL gateways, and device-control paths. You will champion engineering craft, ramp swiftly into unfamiliar domains, and deliver high-performance, resilient mobile experiences that directly advance LVT's core platform capabilities.

This role is based fully in-office out of our Headquarters in American Fork, Utah.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • End-to-End Delivery: Own the architecture, development, and high-quality release of mobile client features across UI, advanced navigation, state management, and offline behaviors.

  • Technical Leadership: Lead the design and evolution of mobile client infrastructure, authoring comprehensive engineering design documents that align adjacent web, platform, and device teams.

  • Cross-Stack Debugging: Trace and resolve complex, customer-facing bugs across service boundaries, including the GraphQL gateway, auth layers, and device control paths, contributing directly to backend repositories when required.

  • Release Engineering: Oversee the complete mobile release pipeline, managing EAS Build/Submit/Update toolchains, provisioning, TestFlight, staged rollouts, and rapid hotfix deployment strategies.

  • Reliability & Performance: Instrument applications for production stability-monitoring crashes, cold starts, and delivery metrics for WebSocket and push-driven real-time alert systems.

  • Team Mentorship & Culture: Actively mentor junior and mid-level engineers, establish technical thought leadership, and elevate team-wide standards for code reviews, design docs, and testing paradigms.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner directly with Product, Design, QA, and DevOps to translate complex business requirements into scalable, performant mobile technology.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE
  • Experience: 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a proven track record of shipping production mobile applications and driving cross-team technical alignment.

  • React Native Expertise: 3+ years of professional React Native experience (or 4+ years of native iOS/Android with extensive production RN deployment) and an active portfolio in the App Store and Google Play.

  • Modern Toolchain & State: Deep production experience utilizing Expo (managed/bare workflows), EAS tools, TypeScript (strict mode, generics), and advanced client-state architectures (React Query, Zustand, Context).

  • Mobile Infrastructure: Strong background implementing production push notifications (APNs/FCM lifecycle), real-time network connectivity (WebSockets), and device-level authentication (OAuth/OIDC, secure storage, biometrics).

  • Performance Optimization: Demonstrated success profiling real devices for startup speed, list virtualization (FlashList), memory leaks, and fluid animations (Reanimated).

  • Agile Mindset & Domain Agility: Proven ability to rapidly digest unfamiliar codebases, contribute meaningfully within a quarter, and effectively navigate legacy infrastructure lacking documentation.

  • Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the executive presence to guide cross-discipline design reviews and articulate complex technical tradeoffs clearly to engineering leadership.

  • Nice to Have: Native module development (Swift/Kotlin), WebRTC video streaming, offline synchronization patterns, automated mobile testing depth (Detox/Maestro), or familiarity with our broader stack (Node.js, NestJS, Apollo Federation, IoT).
