Job description

Montserrat College of Art is seeking adjunct faculty to teach this fall. Adjunct faculty at Montserrat are integral members of the department, contributing to the vitality and experience of all our students.

Position Description

AH 353: History of Animation

Animation has been an important part of screen history since the earliest days of film in the late 19th century. Locating animation within film history and evolving socio-political historical contexts, this course explores the development of animation styles, aesthetics, modes of production, and viewership to consider how animated works have fulfilled entertainment, educational, artistic, commercial, and propagandistic purposes. Major national and international figures and studios are covered, as are major visual and narrative styles, from the earliest hand-drawn to CGI animated works.

Prerequisites: College Writing I and College Writing II (both with grades of C- or above); also, Art History Origins and Art History, Modern Developments.

Fulfills: 3 Credits: Art History Elective, Humanities Elective, or Liberal Arts Elective

This course is being offered on Tuesday and Thursday from 12:10-1:25 pm

Requirements

A Master’s degree is required. Three years of higher education experience preferred.

Additional Requirements

Position takes place in an educational environment; manual dexterity to use computers is required.
