The Department of Media, Art, and Design offers undergraduate and graduate courses in art history, film and video production, studio art, and design. Current areas taught include art history, studio art foundations, digital imaging, drawing, graphic design, motion design/animation, painting, photography, print media, film and video production, screenwriting, with new classes planned in 3D animation/modeling, interactive design, and fibers.

Job Description
The Media, Art & Design Department at the University of Missouri - Kansas City is continuously seeking talented and qualified candidates for adjunct faculty positions. Current areas of strong interest for adjunct candidates include:
  • Art History
  • Studio Art
  • Film & Media Art
  • Design

This is a part-time, non-benefit position. Days and hours will vary depending on the opportunity. Appointment period is for the semester with consideration for reappointment.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Studio Art instructors: Degree in Studio Art or related area, or significant relevant experience/training
  • Media and Film instructors: Degree in Film and Media history or production or related area, or significant relevant experience/training
  • Art History instructors: M.A. in Art History or related area, or significant relevant experience/training
  • Design Instructors: Degree in Graphic Design or related area, or significant relevant experience/training

Teaching experience is required, with preferred teaching experience in higher education.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Studio Art instructors: MFA in Studio Art or related area and active personal studio practice
  • Media and Film instructors: M.A. in Film studies or an MFA in Media Production, or significant relevant experience/training
  • Art History instructors: M.A. in Art History or related area, or significant relevant experience/training
  • Design Instructors: M.A. in Graphic Design or related area, or significant relevant experience/training

Anticipated Hiring Range
Commensurate on education, experience, and internal equity.
