Position Summary:

The Graphic Designeris responsible forconceptualization, designing and producing a wide range of specialized graphic and/or illustrative material toinclude but not limited to,creating andmanipulating graphic images, animations, sound,textand video intoconsolidatedand seamless multimedia programs.He or she will conceptualize and execute ideas.The designer uses knowledge of current graphic design software to produce graphic art and visual materials for promotions, advertising and marketingcollateralthat supportsthe overall marketing strategy,goalsandobjectivesfor Hard Rock Ottawa.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate, brainstorm, and strategize with multiple teams for a wide range of materials that may includebut not limited toprint and direct mailcollateral,OOHsignage,on property signageinternal communication, newsletters, and marketing materials

  • Translate strategic direction into high-quality design within an established brand identity

  • Develop concepts and execute original contentdeterminingideal usage of color, text, font style, imagery, and layout

  • Designs and produces art and copy layouts for visual communications media, includes (but is not limited to): collateral, branding, identity, packaging, retailscapeand large format graphics.

  • Workson a wide range of projects and media, using various computer software to visualize and develop innovative graphic designs that meet business goals

  • Worksindependently and cooperatively on multiple projects withmarketingteam, meeting deadlines and budget constraints, and scheduling project implementation based on workload.

  • Examinesexisting processes,identifyingflaws and creating solutions to improve design capabilities

  • Update andmaintaininternal databases of designs, photography, and video

  • Responsible for ensuring projects areexecutedin a timely mannerand are on schedule, obtain the necessary approvals, and reflect company quality and graphic standards.

  • Manages Hard Rock image usage/transfers, logo usage/transfers.

  • Oversight of pre-press to ensure quality and accuracy for all agency production.

  • Communicates with print vendors onspec, hand -off assets and ensure designs are free of error prior to sending to press

  • Plans production schedules for various steps in the design process

  • Serves as a liaison to andprovidestechnical advice with vendors on design and technical graphic issue

  • Must have excellent project, time management skills with the ability to multi-task, and prioritize

  • Must be able to adapt to changes in prioritizations or schedule of items in the work queue if needed

  • Must be able to translate agency branding into property collateral and signage needs

  • Attend andparticipateinoff propertyfunctions and events as assigned.

  • Participates in department meetings as needed.

  • Perform work regularly and reliably.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience, Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, art, or similar discipline

  • Exceptional creativity and innovative design skills

  • 5+years' experience(academic and professional) with design software, including Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, etc.

  • Proven experience with graphic design, with a strong portfolio of work

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
