Le Superviseur du Lighting est responsable de diriger les equipes de lighting afin de delivrer le look souhaite et la qualite visuelle d'un projet d'animation. Ce role assure la continuite de la vision artistique tout au long de la production, tout en gerant les defis techniques et de production. 

The Lighting Supervisor is responsible for leading the lighting teams to deliver the desired look and visual quality of an animation project. This role ensures continuity of the artistic vision throughout the production while managing technical and production challenges.

Responsabilites: 
  •  Superviser les equipes chargees de lighting afin d'obtenir le style visuel attendu et souhaite pour le projet d'animation. 
  • Assurer et maintenir la qualite et la coherence du lighting a travers tous les plans du film. 
  • Collaborer avec le Superviseur CG pour evaluer la faisabilite technique des designs, en suggerant des solutions adaptees a la production, tout en respectant la vision du realisateur et en prenant en compte les contraintes techniques du projet. 
  • Consulter le Realisateur et le Superviseur CG pour attribuer les taches aux artistes en fonction de leurs competences, forces et experiences, afin d'optimiser le flux de travail et la creativite. 
  • Revoir regulierement le travail des artistes, fournir des retours et approuver les plans pour soumission au Realisateur. 
  • Diriger et orienter les equipes de lighting pour atteindre le look souhaite, en equilibrant les exigences artistiques avec la productivite et les contraintes budgetaires, en collaboration avec la gestion de production. 
  • Resoudre des defis techniques et creatifs complexes en matiere de lighting, garantissant des resultats de haute qualite qui renforcent la narration et l'emotion. 
  • Gerer la continuite des plans et maintenir la coherence visuelle entre les sequences, en s'assurant que l'identite visuelle du film est preservee. 
  • Travailler avec la gestion de production pour garantir que l'equipe respecte le calendrier et le budget, en effectuant des ajustements si necessaire pour respecter les delais. 
  • Developper et superviser le workflow de lighting et de compositing, les besoins en ressources, les methodologies, les outils, les plannings et les assignations de travail. 
  • Maintenir une documentation a jour pour l'equipe et les autres superviseurs. 
  • Tenir l'equipe informee des mises a jour et des developpements lies au projet. 
  • Ameliorer les procedures et les outils pour optimiser la production. 
  • Servir de lien principal pour la communication interdepartementale. 
  • Fournir des retours constructifs a chaque artiste sur leur performance. 
  • Participer activement au processus de selection des nouveaux artistes. 
What you'll be doing:   
  • Supervise the lighting team to deliver the expected and desired visual style of the feature film. 
  • Ensure and maintain the quality and consistency of lighting across all shots in the film. 
  • Collaborate with the CG Supervisor to assess the technical feasibility of designs, suggesting production-friendly solutions to uphold the director's vision while considering the technical constraints of the project. 
  • Consult with the Director and CG Supervisor to assign tasks to artists based on their individual skills, strengths, and experience, ensuring optimal workflow and creativity. 
  • Review the work of artists regularly, providing feedback and approving shots for submission to the Director. 
  • Direct and guide the lighting team to achieve the desired look, balancing artistic requirements with productivity and budget constraints, in close collaboration with production management. 
  • Solve complex technical and creative challenges in lighting, ensuring high-quality outputs that enhance storytelling and emotion. 
  • Manage shot continuity and maintain consistency in look across sequences, ensuring that the film's visual language is preserved. 
  • Work with production management to ensure the team stays on schedule and within budget, making adjustments as necessary to meet deadlines. 
  • Develop and oversee the Lighting workflow, resource requirements, methodologies, tools, schedules, and work assignments. 
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation for the tear and other supervisors. 
  • Keep the team informed of project-related updates and developments. 
  • Enhance procedures and tools for production optimization. 
  • Serve as the primary liaison for interdepartmental communication. 
  • Provide constructive feedback to each artist regarding their performance. 
  • Actively engage in the process of selecting new artists. 
Qualites recherchees : 
  • Au moins 10 ans d'experience dans le domaine de la production et connaissance approfondie des differentes plateformes logicielles. 
  • Au moins 5 ans d'experience dans un role de leadership, sur un projet entierement anime ou hybride. 
  • Experience de la production dans Katana, Renderman et de la composition dans Nuke. 
  • Solide comprehension des techniques et principes traditionnels d'eclairage et de composition. 
  • Solide experience technique et capacite a apprehender rapidement de nouveaux programmes et systemes. 
  • Haut degre d'autodirection et forte ethique de travail. 
  • Connaissance d'UNIX et des scripts shell. 
  • Capacite a planifier et a executer des scenes d'eclairage 3D complexes, notamment en travaillant avec des calques et des passes, en effectuant des compositions complexes et en optimisant les scenes et les rendus. 
  • Solides competences en matiere de communication (ecrite, verbale et interpersonnelle). 
  • Solide comprehension artistique de l'eclairage et de la composition. Une liste des taches effectuees pour chaque prise de vue doit etre fournie. 
What you'll bring:  
  • 10+ years production experience with strong working knowledge of various software platforms.  
  • 5+ experience in a leadership role on a fully animated or hybrid features.  
  • Production experience in Katana, Renderman and compositing in Nuke is a requirement.  
  • Strong understanding of traditional lighting and compositing techniques and principles.  
  • Solid technical background with ability to grasp new programs and systems quickly.  
  • High degree of self-direction and strong work ethic.  
  • Knowledge of UNIX and shell scripts.  
  • Ability to plan and execute complex 3D lighting scenes including working with layers and passes, doing complex comps and optimizing scenes and renders.  
  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal and interpersonal).  
  • Demo reel should display a firm artistic understanding of Light and Composition. A shot breakdown listing jobs performed for each shot is required.
