Virtual Construction - Senior ManagerJob Description:

Every day, our team members do amazing things in pursuit of our shared purpose to build trust with our clients, partners, subcontractors, and teammates. No matter your background, education, or career path, if you share our vision to create extraordinary experiences, you belong at HITT.

Lead Virtual Construction at Scale

As Virtual Construction Senior Manager, you'll lead multiple functions within our Virtual Construction department-BIM coordination and clash detection, 4D sequencing and animation, and model-based quality control-turning virtual construction from a project service into a competitive advantage that shapes how our teams plan, coordinate, and execute.

This is a leadership role with real reach. You'll lead a team that includes Managers who own their own functions, prioritizing how time, people, and budget are allocated across concurrent projects to maximize efficiency. You'll implement the SOPs and BIM Execution Plans that govern coordination, sequencing, and quality across every project, and partner directly with clients, designers, engineers, trade partners, and HITT Operations to resolve conflicts before they reach the field. You'll also evaluate emerging tools and workflows, recommend what's worth adopting, and put the winners into practice.

Position Overview

The Virtual Construction Senior Manager will lead the integration of virtual construction methodologies into project delivery, providing oversight and leadership across multiple functions-BIM coordination and clash detection, 4D sequencing and animation, and model-based quality control. This role pairs complex problem solving with resource management: prioritizing the allocation of time, people, and budget across concurrent projects and functions to maximize efficiency.

  • Department-wide SOPs and BIM Execution Plans governing coordination, sequencing, and animation workflows

  • Resource and staffing plans allocating team capacity across concurrent projects and functions

  • Federated coordination models and clash resolution strategies across architectural, structural, MEP, and specialty contractor disciplines

  • 4D construction sequencing simulations and logistics animations tied to project schedules

  • Schedule analysis identifying optimization opportunities and constructability risk

  • Quality control protocols and model audits verifying accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements

  • VDC scope plans covering schedule, staffing, and budget for each assigned project

Responsibilities:

Leadership & Process Improvement

  • Provide strategic leadership for the virtual construction practice, aligned with company goals and industry best practices

  • Lead the integration of virtual construction methodologies into project delivery-including BIM coordination and clash detection, animation and sequencing, and quality control

  • Enhance and implement standard operating procedures and best practices, including BIM Execution Plans, to ensure consistent execution of BIM coordination and animation workflows

  • Identify areas of improvement within the team and across the organization, modifying department processes and procedures to maximize efficiency

  • Take on complex work that impacts multiple functions and departments, demonstrating agility in decision making and prioritizing the best interest of the business

  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement emerging tools, industry best practices, and trends-building the business case for adoption and scaling what proves out

  • Uphold corporate policies and audit compliance across the function

  • Prepare communications and training on process changes affecting virtual construction workflows

Resource & Budget Management

  • Manage multiple projects concurrently across a variety of functions-determining schedule, staffing, and budget for VDC scope on each

  • Prioritize the allocation of time, resources, and budget across projects and functions to maximize efficiency

  • Manage workload and delegate tasks effectively across functions, putting the right people on the right work

  • Manage the department budget to ensure appropriate spending

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead a team of Associates, Senior Associates, and Managers through project tasks, providing mentorship and growth opportunities

  • Empower and develop current and future Managers to effectively support their teams

  • Ensure Managers are working with their team members on development opportunities through multiple touch points

  • Assess and identify team members' strengths and abilities; provide relevant and timely feedback on an ongoing basis

  • Recommend succession planning and organizational structure across the department

  • Encourage engagement and open communication to create a safe and inclusive work environment; resolve internal conflicts and partner with HR as needed

  • Serve as the internal authority on BIM and VDC best practices, providing training and technical support to broader project teams

  • Build bench strength through recruiting, onboarding, and knowledge-sharing across the department

BIM Coordination & Model Management

  • Utilize advanced BIM software and technologies to coordinate detailed virtual models of project designs, including architectural, structural, and MEP systems

  • Own coordination outcomes on the most complex and highest-risk projects in the portfolio

  • Proactively manage model-based conflicts, driving resolution before issues reach the field

  • Direct model integration strategy across design teams, trade partners, and specialty contractors

4D Sequencing & Schedule Optimization

  • Work closely with project teams to develop 4D construction sequencing simulations based on virtual models

  • Analyze construction schedules to identify opportunities for schedule optimization and risk mitigation

  • Translate means-and-methods knowledge into visual narratives that non-technical audiences immediately understand

  • Support site logistics planning, phasing studies, and interim milestone visualization

Quality Control & Standards

  • Establish quality control procedures for virtual construction deliverables to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements

  • Conduct regular reviews of virtual models and project documentation to verify adherence to established standards

  • Define quality benchmarks and audit cadence across all active projects

  • Drive continuous improvement of the internal VDC playbook based on lessons learned

Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration

  • Communicate coordination issues and interact with clients, architects, designers, engineers, subcontractors, and HITT project teams to foster a collaborative environment

  • Run effective meetings-facilitating dialogue, determining objectives, and assigning action items

  • Tailor communications to the needs of the stakeholder; recognize risk and elevate issues in a timely manner

  • Exhibit tact in advising clients through difficult conversations while maintaining the relationship

  • Partner with HITT Operations and Preconstruction to align VDC scope with project requirements and pursuit timelines

  • Guide direct reports in building and leveraging internal relationships across the organization

  • Present virtual construction capabilities in interviews, owner meetings, and industry events

  • Represent HITT through active participation in relevant professional organizations

Required Qualifications

  • 8-10 years of dedicated virtual design and construction experience

  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing others-including managing or mentoring team leads-with the ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional groups

  • Experience allocating staffing and managing budget across multiple concurrent projects

  • Proven track record of successfully implementing virtual construction strategies on complex projects

  • Deep, current working knowledge of BIM tools and VDC processes, maintained through active practice rather than oversight alone

  • Working knowledge of Revit, Navisworks, Revizto, Autodesk Forma, Synchro Pro, Adobe Creative Cloud, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office

  • Proficiency in understanding construction documents, shop drawings, and other design communication tools

  • Experience developing and enforcing BIM Execution Plans and department-level standards

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to lead external stakeholders through complex coordination decisions

  • Passion for learning and adoption of new technology

  • A four-year degree from an accredited university in a relevant field (Construction Management, Building Science, Engineering, Architecture) is preferred but not required; in lieu of a degree, additional applicable work experience is acceptable

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading managers or team leads who own their own functions

  • Active membership and leadership in appropriate professional organizations

  • Experience with advanced AI-driven VDC workflows and automation tools

  • Programming/scripting skills (Python, Dynamo) for automation and custom workflows

  • CM Builder (CadMakers) or equivalent experience for 4D scheduling and visualization

  • Familiarity with reality capture and scan-to-model verification workflows

  • Experience with NVIDIA Omniverse, Digital Twin development, or similar real-time 3D collaboration platforms

  • Experience supporting large-scale or technically complex projects (data centers, healthcare, aviation, advanced manufacturing)
