As a Veterinary Assistant with us, you’ll be a vital part of our high-volume practice, working side-by-side with our doctor and technicians to provide compassionate, high-quality care to our patients. Daily Responsibilities
Patient Handling & Restraint: Safely and compassionately restrain dogs and cats for examinations, procedures, treatments, and blood draws.
Exam Room & Doctor Support: Triage patients, take patient histories, collect vital signs (weight, temperature, heart rate), and prepare room setups for exams.
Clinical & Surgical Support: Assist veterinarians and technicians during treatments, prep patients for surgery, sanitize surgical instruments, and assist with post-op recovery monitoring.
Lab & Pharmacy: Assist in preparing and running basic in-house lab samples (fecals, ear cytology, bloodwork) and filling prescriptions as directed by veterinarians.
Hospital Maintenance & Care: Ensure exam rooms, treatment areas, and surgical suites are clean, sterilized, and fully stocked throughout the day.
Client Communication: Educate owners on preventive health, dietary needs, parasite control, and post-procedure care instructions.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Patient & Client Care: Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a compassionate, positive attitude.
Physical Requirements: Ability to safely lift up to 40 lbs, stand for extended periods, and handle animals of varying sizes and temperaments.
Team-First Mindset: Excitement for a fast-paced, high-volume environment and a strong drive to collaborate within a supportive, tight-knit team.
Nice-to-Have Skills
Veterinary Software: Experience with IDEXX Neo software.
Prior Experience: Previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant or cross-training in veterinary front-desk operations.
Salary and Benefits
Salary Range: $29,000.00 – $40,000.00 / year (Adjusted slightly upward from reception to reflect hands-on clinical duties, customizable to experience)
Benefits: Health Insurance (after 90 days) and Paid Time Off (PTO) (After 12 months employement), Simple IRA (after 12 months employment), Life Insurance
Schedule: 4½ days per week
