Job description

This role is hybrid opportunity for candidates to work in office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from our Seattle, San Francisco, or Detroit offices and work remotely all other days . We can consider highly qualified candidates on a remote only basis who reside outside of these three areas.
Redfin is continually improving and expanding our app to include new features, and options for our customers. As an Android Technical Lead, you'll join a passionate team working to enable Redfin's app developers to build and ship the top-rated real estate apps. We support the infrastructure to ensure our app is fast and stable. We also build the core frameworks, mobile design system, and tooling to support building features for our customers that allow them to interact with the home buying experience while on the move.
About the Role
  • Hands-on development lead responsible for churning out robust, scalable, maintainable and well-tested code while leading the deliverables and mentorship of the Android Consumer Apps team.
  • Design and implement complex, technical projects that enable Redfin's app developers to build and ship the top-rated real estate apps.
  • Contribute to the long-term strategy of the Android platform, considering technical and product-level concerns.
  • Drives engineering productivity for the Consumer Apps Engineering team at Redfin: constantly looking to improve maintainability, reduce technical debt, and make all apps engineers more efficient at writing code.
  • Collaborate with your teammates by reviewing code, writing documentation, refining best practices, and building maintainable and testable codebases.
  • Work closely with our product and design teams to understand user and business needs.
  • Using and evangelizing approved AI code generation tools to document, architect, and create code.

About You
  • You have 8+ years of Android development experience creating consumer facing enterprise iOS Android apps along with 1+ years experience in a Technical Lead or Staff level role.
  • You have an expert understanding of Android solution architectures and building advanced interactive user experience.
  • You set the long term technical strategy for a product area to make a significant impact on key business and engineering metrics.
  • You are a teacher and a mentor: you lead by example and mentor the next set of technical leaders at the company.
  • You help guide the team through healthy, constructive disagreements, demonstrating respect for everyone's opinions and ideas.
  • You can collaborate across distances and experience levels, and you can disagree constructively with respect for everyone's opinions and ideas.
  • You have experience with mobile CI/CD and cloud development technologies, such as Bitrise and Jenkins.
  • You have deep knowledge of at least one AI code generation tool, such as GitHub CoPilot, Anthropic Claude Code, Cursor, or similar.
