Job description

Bumble is looking for a Senior Android Engineer to join our Mobile Design System team and help empower fellow Android engineers, as well as wider mobile teams, to deliver an amazing experience to our end users. You'll be joining a team of experienced native iOS and Android engineers, along with a group of talented designers who are unstoppable when it comes to creating great UI for our end users.
 
The Mobile Design System sits within our Mobile Platform Group, which is core to enabling the success of Bumble, Badoo, and BFF Apps. The group provides mobile engineering teams with industry-leading, highly reliable, and fit-for-purpose frameworks, tools, services, and integrations for development, deployment, and quality control. 
 
The Mobile Design System team develops and maintains a scalable Design System that seamlessly integrates across our mobile applications. The engineers on the team educate others on UI best practices, lead the evolution of the Design System, its patterns and principles, and continuously explore opportunities to improve efficiency and satisfaction for our customer teams.
 
What You'll Do
  • Explore the latest practices and tools to build a comprehensive and scalable Design System
  • Adopt AI tools to accelerate the transition from design to prototype and enable experimentation with production-ready code.
  • Participate in the development and evolution of our UI approach, integrating it with our Android architecture
  • Create and maintain shareable UI components, including Atoms, Molecules, and Organisms of the Design System
  • Support and enhance the Design System infrastructure, including the Playground app, tokens and assets deployment pipeline, VRT tools, and more
  • Work closely with designers to define, establish, and review component specifications for the Design System.
  • Collaborate closely with customer teams to ensure seamless integration and adoption
About You
  • 5+ years of professional experience building and shipping production Android applications
  • Up to date with the latest Compose and Android trends
  • Experienced in working with Jetpack Compose
  • Understanding of design patterns and Object-Oriented Programming
  • Good communication skills, strong team-working capability, and a desire to learn and grow
  • Passion for collaborating with other developers and enhancing their efficiency through your contributions
  • Attention to detail, structural thinking, and a passion for software design

Location
  • This role is based in Austin, and we ask that you're within a commutable distance to this office, so that you're able to come onsite regularly to collaborate across engineering teams.
  • We have a hybrid environment that requires you to be in the office Monday - Wednesday.

$190,000 - $215,000 a year
For base compensation, we set standard ranges for all roles based on function, level, and geographic location. This position is also typically eligible to participate in our short- and long-term incentive programs. Benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k) match, Unlimited Paid Time Off Policy.
