Who we're looking for
Toyota is looking for team members who are passionate about technology and interested in joining a collaborative and highly motivated team as a Senior Manager.
The primary responsibility of this role is to utilize engineering expertise to lead the team to design, develop, and deliver security features of products including systems, application and/or solutions, in accordance with appropriate processes, meeting Toyota's goals for the product.
Reporting to the Product Cybersecurity General Manager, the person in this role will join the Product Cybersecurity team to deploy security solutions for applications in a more connected vehicle environment.
What you'll be doing
  • Lead, direct, and deliver cybersecurity testing across the product ecosystem
  • Build a high-performing testing organization - attract senior talent, develop career paths and succession, and champion technical depth, continuous learning, and engineering rigor
  • Set testing standards across Product Cybersecurity Group; driving consistency across programs as an enterprise-wide change agent influencing how Toyota validates the security of its connected-vehicle products
  • Design and execute advanced penetration tests covering the vehicle ecosystem, including in-vehicle systems, mobile application, cloud
  • Drive continuous improvement in testing methodologies and automation to increase efficiency and coverage
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to management/executives both in North America and globally; recognized as an enterprise-wide change agent
  • Provide product cybersecurity technical thought leadership throughout the research, design, development, manufacturing, and operations of the Connected, Autonomous, Shared, and Electrified (CASE) mobility solutions and digital services

What you bring
  • 9+ years in cybersecurity engineering, including 5+ years leading deeply technical teams
  • Extensive experience in penetration testing, vulnerability management and advanced exploitation techniques
  • Proven leadership skills with a track record of managing and developing high-performing multi-disciplinary engineering teams (embedded, cloud, mobile)
  • Proven track record of leading cross-functional partnerships with internal stakeholders and external counterparts - including OEM partners, Tier-1 suppliers, and regional/global teams
  • Deep technical expertise with embedded systems cybersecurity - e.g., understanding of device architecture, hardware interfaces, firmware extraction, reverse engineering, exploit development, etc.
  • Excellent written and communication skills with experience engaging and presenting to executive leadership

Added bonus if you have
  • Master's Degree in Engineering, AI, or related discipline
  • Experience with embedded AI/ML, including Generative AI and common GAI platforms
  • Deep technical expertise with cloud cybersecurity - e.g., experience with major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP), understanding of container orchestration and serverless functions, identify misconfigurations, privilege escalations, insecure APIs, etc.
  • Deep technical expertise with mobile applications cybersecurity - e.g., understanding of iOS and Android platforms, static code analysis, dynamic testing, reverse engineering, etc.
  • Experience with ISO / SAE 21434 and/or UN R155/R156
  • Relevant certifications, such as CISSP, CISM, or OSCP, are highly desirable
  • Fluent in Japanese (reading, writing, speaking) for business and technical discussions
