Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with security assessments or security design reviews or threat modeling.
  • 2 years of experience with security engineering, computer and network security and security protocols.
  • 2 years of coding experience in one or more general purpose languages.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience in static and dynamic binary analysis using industry-standard tools (e.g., IDA Pro, Ghidra, WinDbg) across multiple operating systems, architectures, and run-times.
  • Proficiency in Python, Go, Rust, or C/C with a track record of building malware automation tooling or workflows that leverage AI to scale triage.
  • Excellent technical communication and reporting skills, with a demonstrated ability to synthesize complex, disparate data from multiple automated systems and your own deep-dive analysis into highly detailed, clear, and actionable technical reports.

As a Reverse Engineer on the FLARE team, you will focus on technical deep dives and analyses of binaries, developing reverse engineering tools, tracking new threats from large datasets, and improving threat actor tracking mechanisms.

Responsibilities
  • Perform static and dynamic binary analysis on a wide variety of platforms, architectures, and run-times.
  • Write technical reports to support intrusion investigations by Mandiant Consulting, alert triage by Managed Defense, intelligence reports by Google Threat Intelligence, and more.
  • Develop software to extract malware configurations from malware families.
  • Participate in research and development tasks for existing research initiatives with minimal assistance from executive analysts.
  • Develop software in support of malware and vulnerability automation and triage.
