Job Overview:
The Anatomical Pathology Supervisor oversees daily operations of the Histology department, ensuring high quality specimen processing, workflow efficiency, and regulatory compliance,
This role provides leadership to the Histology Coordinator, Histology Technologists, and Pathology Assistant, supporting accurate and timely preparation of tissue specimens for diagnostic interpretation. The supervisor collaborates closely with pathologists, laboratory leadership, and clinical teams to maintain excellence in patient care,
Qualifications:
Required:
    • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Histology or Anatomical Pathology,
    • Experience with routine and advanced histologic techniques, laboratory workflow, and regulatory standards,
  • Licenses and Certifications
    • Required: HT(ASCP) or HTL(ASCP) certification,

Preferred:
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred,
  • PA(ASCP) certification for roles with grossing oversight,

Essential Functions:
  • Direct and supervise daily operations of the Histology laboratory, including specimen accessioning, grossing support, embedding, microtomy, staining, and special procedures,
  • Provide leadership, scheduling, training, and performance management for the Coordinator, Histology Technologists, and Pathology Assistant,
  • Ensure compliance with CAP, CLIA, OSHA, and institutional quality and safety standards,
  • Monitor workflow, turnaround times, equipment performance, and supply inventory to maintain efficient operations,
  • Develop and update SOPs, quality control procedures, and competency assessments,
  • Serve as a technical resource for troubleshooting, complex cases, and process improvement initiatives,
  • Support pathologists with grossing oversight, specimen handling, and problem resolution,
