Teens Make Health Happen Marketing & Communications Internship Company Overview

HealthCorps - School District of Palm Beach County

Overview

As a MarComm Intern with HealthCorps, you will play a key role in supporting regional marketing, communications, content creation, and outreach efforts that promote health and wellness in schools and communities.

Commitment: 8 hours per week throughout the academic year (academic year 2026-2027). Approximately 1.5-2 hours per week spent on site at local school sites capturing content.

Responsibilities
  • Content Creation & Storytelling: support content collection and storytelling projects for digital communications, social media, newsletters, websites, donor communications, and regional outreach. Develop written, video, and visual content highlighting HealthCorps mission, student impact, community partnerships, and program successes.
  • On-Site Engagement & Coverage: visit local school sites weekly to capture stories and content from Teen Make Health Happen Clubs; attend regional events, community outreach, and partner engagements to document and showcase impact.
  • Social Media & Digital Marketing: manage regional social media channels (Instagram & TikTok), create and publish content, monitor engagement, conduct social listening, maintain brand consistency. Support content creation for LinkedIn and YouTube in collaboration with national team.
  • Communications Support: develop communications materials for students, families, school partners, community partners, and stakeholders. Draft email communications, newsletters, announcements, presentations, event invitations, promotional messaging.
  • Marketing Materials & Design: create and update marketing collateral such as flyers, posters, presentations, event signage, one-pagers, and promotional materials supporting program recruitment, event promotion, community engagement.
  • Regional Event Promotion & Support: promote and support regional events through digital communications, outreach campaigns, and marketing efforts. Assist with pre-event promotion, attendee engagement, post-event storytelling.
  • Performance Tracking & Reporting: track engagement analytics and assist in monthly reporting to assess performance and impact of regional marketing and communications efforts.
  • Campaign & Creative Project Support: assist in brainstorming, developing, and executing awareness campaigns, recurring content series, storytelling initiatives, and other creative projects that highlight HealthCorps programming and impact.
  • Collaboration & Teamwork: collaborate with college mentors delivering Teen Make Health Happen programming to local middle and high school sites, and other HealthCorps MarComm Interns nationwide. Participate in national intern huddles to align on messaging, storytelling strategy, best practices, and key campaigns.
  • Representation: serve as ambassador for HealthCorps and its mission at schools, events, and community engagements to connect students, staff, partners, and community members to HealthCorps programs and resources.
Qualifications
  • Student status: College student (currently working toward a bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, social media, business, public health, or related field).
  • Availability: 8+ hours per week during the academic year 2026-2027.
  • Education: Successful completion of introductory courses in marketing, business, or equivalent.
  • Skills: Applied understanding of basic marketing principles; familiarity with major social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube); creative problemโ€‘solving; strong written and verbal communication; basic photography, image, and video editing; graphic design; Microsoft Office Suite applications (Excel, Outlook, etc.); strong organizational and timeโ€‘management; curiosity about trends, social platforms, and youthโ€‘centered storytelling.
  • Selfโ€‘starter with ability to work independently; comfortable multitasking in a deadlineโ€‘driven environment.
  • Travel: ability to travel to assigned sites up to 40 miles within Palm Beach County.
  • May be offered college or course credit or practicum hours depending on university guidelines.
