With our three market leading businesses, world-class operations and investments in research and development, we offer capabilities and opportunity no one else can. Together, we push the boundaries of known science and find new ways to connect and protect our world.

Raytheon brings the strength of more than 100 years of experience and renowned engineering expertise to meet the needs of today’s mission and stay ahead of tomorrow’s threat. We deliver solutions that help our nation and allies defend freedoms and deter aggression, creating a safer, more secure world. Join us and help shape the future of aerospace and defense.

Raytheon’s newly elevated Mission Engineering organization is entering a transformative phase — and this role sits at the center of that evolution. Mission Engineering is integrating threat expertise, mission decomposition, architectures, technology evaluation, modeling & simulation, operations analysis, mission planners, and world‑class visualization into a unified mission thread shaping programs, pursuits, investments, and strategy.

This is an opportunity to join a team at a pivotal moment — one where your analysis, insight, and leadership can directly influence how Raytheon understands missions, builds capability roadmaps, and supports the warfighter. The team emphasizes collaboration, technical rigor, and mission-first thinking. You will be part of a high-impact organization gaining visibility, integration, and enterprise-wide influence as Raytheon strengthens its commitment to Mission Engineering, Modeling & Simulation, and Operations Analysis.

As an Advanced Technology Analysis SME, you will contribute directly to building that integrated environment. Your work will inform SAP‑level decision-making, drive technology strategy, and fuel the Mission Engineering Laboratory — a collaborative ecosystem for wargaming, experimentation, and mission‑driven problem solving. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in high‑visibility, cross‑domain environments and wants to help shape the future of mission‑level planning and analysis at Raytheon.

This position is onsite in Arlington, VA

What You Will Do

  • Serve as the Mission Engineering advanced technology analysis SME for all SAP‑level fully informed activities.

  • Evaluate business environments, cost feasibility, and return‑on‑investment potential for technologies; advise program management and senior leaders on technology growth and mission‑focused product development.

  • Lead analyst teams to produce Operations Analysis (OA) and Modeling & Simulation (M&S) products, leadership briefings, and cross‑mission support materials.

  • Coordinate system‑of‑systems analysis including threat environments, competitive systems insights, mission architectures, and algorithm/mode‑level mission needs.

  • Engage directly with customers across current and future product lines to shape mission needs and requirements aligned with Mission Engineering objectives.

  • Translate strategy from senior leadership into actionable engineering concepts, architectures, and innovation pathways.

  • Identify project strengths, weaknesses, and resource demands; guide engineering teams from early requirements through fielding operations.

What You Will Learn

  • How Mission Engineering integrates sensors, effectors, command & control, logistics, planners, M&S tools, and visualization into an end-to-end mission thread.

  •  Techniques to develop, analyze, and evaluate multi-domain solutions spanning campaign, mission, and system level analysis.

  •  Hands-on experience with advanced threat environments, emerging technologies, competitive systems, and high-end mission modeling.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.

  • Experience working with Special Access Programs across multiple domains.

  • Experience in program execution, technology development, and mission-critical capabilities.

  • Experience planning and executing analyses for DoD customers.

  • Active and existing TS/SCI security clearance required on day 1. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or related STEM field.

  • Experience with TS/SCI-level operational analysis and RCADE.

  • Experience with AFSIM.

  • Familiarity with emerging threats, advanced CONOPS, and technologies designed to counter them.

  • Excellent Presentation and Communication skills.

What We Offer

  • Our values drive our actions, behaviors, and performance with a vision for a safer, more connected world. At RTX we value: Safety, Trust, Respect, Accountability, Collaboration, and Innovation.
