Overview (Scope of Role)

The Analytical Technician will be based in Midland, MI supporting the analytical activities in the Latex Binders business.


Focusing within a single plant or across multiple plant laboratories this role will:

  • Perform non-routine and routine complex analyses.
  • Ensure the effective operation of analytical systems and the lab’s adherence to TIMS and all external certifications (i.e. ISO9001, IATF 16949, etc.).
  • Ensure lab equipment is maintained and calibrated as required by our quality management system
  • Write procedures for the use of laboratory equipment and train plant personnel on these tasks.
  • Assure the quality of analytical data provided to produce and release products
  • Implement and verify performance of new equipment.
  • Aid in new method development for new analytical test methods as required by the business.

  • Associates degree (or equivalent coursework) in technical curriculum (preferably chemistry, engineering, chemical technology, etc.) or demonstrated analytical experience in chemical/polymer industry is acceptable.
  • 2+ years in lab environment with previous analytical lab experience
  • Understanding of quality systems and use of laboratory equipment involved in latex/polymer analysis
  • Understanding of ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and ISO17025 requirements for analytical lab tests/equipment.
  • Experience with gas chromatography, solids analysis, rheology, particle size, and other tests is preferred.
