What does an analyst do?

An Analyst is a professional who collects, processes, and interprets data to help organizations make informed decisions. Their responsibilities often include researching trends, preparing reports, and providing insights that guide business strategies. Analysts work in various fields such as finance, marketing, operations, or data analysis, and use specialized tools and software to analyze information. They play a key role in identifying opportunities for improvement and supporting the decision-making process within a company.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an analyst, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Analyst, you need strong analytical thinking, quantitative skills, and a relevant degree such as in finance, business, or data science. Familiarity with data analysis tools (like Excel, SQL, or Python), business intelligence platforms, and sometimes certifications such as CFA or CAP are typically required. Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication are vital soft skills for presenting insights and collaborating with stakeholders. These skills are crucial for transforming complex data into actionable strategies that drive informed business decisions.

How do analysts typically collaborate with other departments within an organization?

Analysts often work cross-functionally, collaborating closely with teams such as finance, marketing, operations, and IT to collect data, understand business needs, and provide actionable insights. This collaboration usually involves regular meetings, data sharing, and joint project work to ensure that analyses align with organizational goals. Effective communication and teamwork are key, as Analysts must translate complex data findings into clear recommendations for non-technical stakeholders. Building strong relationships with other departments helps Analysts stay informed about business priorities and deliver more impactful results.

What analyst makes the most money?

Senior-level analysts in specialized fields such as financial, data, or management analysis tend to earn the highest salaries, often exceeding $100,000 annually. Factors like industry, experience, certifications, and location influence compensation levels significantly.

An analyst typically needs at least a bachelor's degree in fields such as business, finance, economics, statistics, or related areas. Some roles may require or prefer a master's degree or professional certifications like CFA or CPA, especially for advanced or specialized positions.

What is an entry level analyst?

Job description

THE ROLE

We Are Social is looking for a data-driven Analyst who has their finger on the pulse of social trends. You will leverage analytics to inform strategies, identify emerging opportunities, and guide clients in making data-backed decisions. You should be passionate about social media and excel at translating data into actionable insights.

WE AREย

A creative agency powered by social connections. That means we thrive on what's trending and creating campaigns that get people buzzing. We call it "Ideas Worth Talking About," and we're proud to have played a part in some of the most culturally relevant campaigns of the decade for brands like Adidas, Cadillac, Visa and more.

WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT HERE

  • We like to laugh, we live for celeb gossipย
  • Our passport program lets you explore and work from one of our 16 other offices worldwide, including Paris, Singapore, Madrid, Dubai, London and more!
  • You best believe we know how to celebrate our wins. And our losses (it's how we learn).ย
  • From carbon offsets to community kitchens, we're passionate about making a difference.ย

YOU ARE

  • A person who thrives in a fast-paced environment, responding quickly and proactively
  • Not interested in just following trends - you want to create them
  • A self-starter, who'll take ideas from concept to execution, navigating feedback like a proย ย

Traditional agency experience is not required, but it's a plus. What matters is your deep understanding of what resonates with social audiences. This role is energetic, innovative and forward-thinking. Alongside engaging with communities, you'll guide brands by staying ahead of social trends and cultural moments. In return, you'll join a global agency dedicated to generating buzzworthy ideas for some of the world's leading brands.ย

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Monitor and analyze social media performance, using data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for optimization
  • Develop and implement measurement frameworks for social media campaigns, defining KPIs and success metrics
  • Incorporate artificial intelligence in support of core functions, data analysis and visualization, research and insights mining
  • Create insightful reports and presentations that clearly communicate social media performance and insights to clients
  • Stay up-to-date on social media trends, algorithms, and best practices
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate social media insights into broader marketing strategies
  • Interpret complex data sets to inform business decisions
  • Identify patterns and trends, and generate actionable insights to optimize marketing and advertising strategies
  • Create detailed reports and visualizations that communicate key findings to stakeholders
  • Connect diverse cultural references to uncover "intelligence" that highlights meaningful, non-obvious opportunities for brand growth

Requirements

  • Up to 3 years of experience in social media analytics
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Statistics, or a related field
  • Strong proficiency in social media analytics tools (e.g., Brandwatch, Sprinklr, Hootsuite, Google Analytics)
  • Expertise in social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, TikTok, etc.)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • A strong command of data analytics and content performance metrics
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and be able to translate data into clear, actionable insights
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills

At We Are Social, we celebrate diverse perspectives and experiences. We welcome unique voices and talents, especially those not traditionally embraced by advertising. Discover more about our culture and our work.
