Job Description:
The New York County District Attorney's Office (DANY) anticipates 1 opening for Analyst in the Special Victims Division, closely supporting the Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Bureau (IPSVB). IPSVB handles all sexual assault prosecutions in Manhattan where the victims are 14 years or older and cases. The Bureau's experienced, specially trained prosecutors strive to bring the strongest prosecutions for victims of these heinous crimes. In addition, IPSV also handles unlawful surveillance prosecutions and prosecutions for violations of sexual offender registration laws. In this position, Analysts provide a wide range of support to the Assistant District Attorneys (ADAs) prosecuting these crimes.
The Analysts will work closely with lawyers, investigators, social workers, and external partner agencies to identify victims and perpetrators, supporting the ADAs as they take on misdemeanor cases that fall under the above criteria.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Assist Assistant District Attorneys (ADAs) in case investigation, preparation, and trial.
  • Take notes on victim and witness interviews and proffers with defendants in IPSV and SVD cases
  • Assist ADAs in the acquisition, redaction and preparation of documents for e-discovery.
  • Assist ADAs in pre-arrest investigations of cases
  • Generate subpoenas, obtain evidence, and conduct online investigations.
  • Compile and analyze case documents for hearing and trials.
  • Conduct forensic previews and analysis on electronic devices.
  • Perform related Analyst duties as assigned by ADAs in IPSVB and SVD.

In addition to the Minimum Qualification Requirements, all candidates must possess the following:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college required or expected by candidate's start date.

Preferred Requirements/Skills:
  • Fluency in a foreign language (particularly Spanish, Russian, Mandarin or Cantonese) is helpful though not necessary.
  • Excellent organization, communication, writing, and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access).
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to follow directions and apply proper policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Ability to learn, update and edit existing proprietary applications and quickly learn and use various computer systems.
  • Ability to work independently with frequent interruptions, manage deadlines, keep track of ongoing assignments, and adapt to changes in workflow.
  • Comfort working on a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and high concern for data accuracy.
  • Ability to interact and communicate with all levels of staff, court representatives, law enforcement representatives and witnesses.

  • Authorization to work in the United States is required for this position.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:
  1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
  2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.
