How much do analog power jobs pay per year?

As of May 31, 2026, the average yearly pay for analog power in the United States is $142,396.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $117,500.00 and $139,000.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Analog Power Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Analog Power Engineer, you need a strong background in electrical engineering principles, power electronics, and circuit design, often backed by a relevant engineering degree. Familiarity with simulation tools like SPICE, PCB design software, and industry standards such as IPC or UL certifications is typically required. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective collaboration are crucial soft skills in this role. These abilities ensure the design and implementation of reliable, efficient power systems that meet safety and performance standards.

What are some typical challenges faced by engineers working in Analog Power roles, and how do teams usually address them?

Engineers in Analog Power often face challenges such as maintaining signal integrity, minimizing power loss, and ensuring robust thermal management in complex circuit designs. These issues require close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including PCB designers and firmware engineers, to balance performance, efficiency, and safety. Regular design reviews, simulation tools, and iterative prototyping are commonly used to identify and resolve potential problems early in the development process, fostering a supportive environment for problem-solving and innovation.

What are Analog Power engineers?

Analog Power engineers are specialists who design, develop, and test circuits and systems that manage and convert electrical power using analog (continuous) signals. Their work typically involves creating power supplies, voltage regulators, converters, and other components that provide stable and efficient power to electronic devices. These engineers play a crucial role in industries such as consumer electronics, automotive, telecommunications, and industrial automation, ensuring that devices operate reliably and efficiently. Their expertise covers areas such as circuit design, simulation, testing, and troubleshooting of analog and mixed-signal power systems.

What is the difference between Analog Power vs Digital Power Engineer?

AspectAnalog PowerDigital Power Engineer
Required CredentialsBachelor's in Electrical Engineering, certifications in power systemsBachelor's in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, certifications in digital systems
Work EnvironmentDesigning analog circuits, testing power components, working in labs or manufacturingDeveloping digital power management solutions, firmware, and control algorithms
Industry UsagePower supply design, consumer electronics, industrial equipmentPower regulation in digital devices, embedded systems, computing hardware

Analog Power engineers focus on designing and testing analog power circuits and systems, while Digital Power Engineers work on digital control and management of power systems. Both roles require electrical engineering knowledge but differ in their focus areas and applications within the industry.
