  • Looking for an Associate Attorney with 1 year experience (or equivalent with student litigation or clerking). The area of practice is Family Law, and the Candidate will be responsible for independently handling the client's entire file, including Trials, Motions, Discovery, client communication, and other proceedings dealing with handling a client's case.

Alan Cooper & Associates, is a well-established legal practice specializing in Family Law, with over 31 years of service in the legal industry. Our practice serves clients across Oakland, Macomb, Wayne, Genesee, Monroe, and Washtenaw counties, handling Family Law cases and occasionally representing clients in small criminal matters.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a very self-motivated, hard working, ambitious, and driven Associate Attorney with 1 year of experience (or equivalent while clerking or student litigation) to join our dynamic legal team. This role involves extensive litigation in Court, arguing Motions, conducting Trials, and arguing for your client's position and independently managing case files from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage Family Law and occasional small criminal cases, including:
Conducting trials and hearings
Drafting and arguing motions
Handling discovery processes
Communicating effectively with clients
Representing clients in all stages of proceedings
Maintain case deadlines and documentation in compliance with legal standards.
Provide compassionate, yet aggressive, professional legal counsel to clients during challenging times.
Qualifications:

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Licensed to practice law in Michigan.
1 year of legal experience (or equivalent as clerk or student, preferably in Family Law.
Strong written and oral advocacy skills.
Ability to work independently and handle multiple case files efficiently.
Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills.
