Job description

Position Overview Professional level classification works under direction & requires considerable knowledge of speech therapy technology to provide speech pathology treatments to residents; Performs the material and substantial duties of the classification more than 50% of the time. May supervise/lead/direct assigned staff. Summary of Job Duties Assess and provide prescribed speech therapies for residents as assigned, to include oral-motor stimulation and strengthening; develop and implement various treatment plans based on assessments and recommendations by physicians; evaluate video fluoroscopy results and other swallowing tests and provide recommendations for diet modifications to physician.

Evaluate need for techniques and alternative devices for enhanced communication; prepare paperwork to obtain prior authorization for communication devices; set up devices and train resident and staff in their use; evaluate need for sign language, voice improvement or other communication techniques; train resident and staff in these areas. Provide in-service and training for staff in group settings and individually as indicated; provide written input for IHP meetings. Document all therapeutic and diagnostic activities and results in electronic medical record; other duties as required.

Maintain continuing education and necessary training to maintain license Minimum Qualifications and Requirements Master's Degree in Speech Pathology. Must be eligible for, or hold current Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology granted by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association or other comparable body Supplemental Information Maintain continuing education and necessary training to maintain license. CPR/FIRST AID CERTIFICATION.
