Summary:


The Packer is responsible for operating winders, completing quality checks as required, packaging and palletizing finished product, handling scrap product and assisting in scrap reduction while maintaining quality standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Must enter one near miss and one observation per month.
  • Must review productions orders
  • Must determine correct packing materials are available at the line
  • Removes finished product from winders and places it on scales to verify weight
  • Weigh and accurately record all product on work order/ continuation sheets.
  • Places items in designated cartons as per production order specifications
  • Package product per work order manufacturing notes and any other order instructions checking accuracy of labels and adherence to product guidelines.
  • Places identification labels on product or skids per work order instructions
  • Must keep work area clean of scrap plastic, cardboard and other debris
  • Must be able to ensure that the quality is being followed according to work order specifications
  • Assist in giving breaks to peers
  • Cut scrap and separate properly
  • Must be able to work all equipment in stretch and minimum 5 equipment in custom
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Must know how to read and use a tape measure and weigh scale
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., if over 50 lbs. require a team lift or mechanical aid such as a roll lift or forklift
  • Must be able to stand for 12 hours
  • Must be able to work rotating 12-hour shift including holidays and weekends
  • Must be able to bend, twist, and rotate body at all times
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment

Physical Requirements:

  • The employee in this job is required to exert 50 pounds of force occasionally (less than 1/3 of time); and up to 35pounds of force frequently (more than 1/3 of the totaltime); if over 50 lbs, requires a team lift or mechanical aid such as a roll lift or forklift.
  • Must be able to stand for 12 hours
  • Must be able to work rotating 12 hour shift including holidays and weekends
  • Must be able to bend, twist, and rotate body at all times
  • Reaching with hands and arms for as much as 100% of workday
  • Talking to communicate with others
  • Hearing to communicate with others and respond to manufacturing and PIT equipment sounds
  • Using arms to grasp, handle, and type
  • Walking to operate production machines and to package and palletize finished product

Salary Range:

The starting rate of pay for this position is expected to be $18.65; however, starting pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience between $18.65 and $21.50.
