Job Description:
The Brand Ambassador (Retail) is a highly visible, hands-on role responsible for driving local brand presence, community engagement, and foot traffic to a Northeast Alternatives retail location. This role serves as the bridge between retail operations and marketing, executing grassroots, guerrilla, and experiential marketing initiatives that convert local awareness into in-store visits and sales.
This position focuses on boots-on-the-ground execution, including community partnerships, local events, vendor activations, canvassing efforts, and in-store experiences. Success in this role is measured by increased foot traffic, community participation, event performance, and return on investment from local marketing efforts.
This role plays a critical part in driving local growth for Northeast Alternatives. The Brand Ambassador (Retail) is not a desk-based marketer. This is a high-impact, execution-focused position designed to create real-world engagement, bring the brand into the community, and turn local presence into increased store traffic and sales.
Key Responsibilities:
Community Engagement & Partnerships
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local businesses, community organizations, event organizers, and municipal partners
  • Identify and secure opportunities for community events, markets, sponsorships, pop-ups, and educational initiatives
  • Represent Northeast Alternatives professionally as a local brand ambassador within the Community

Grassroots & Guerrilla Marketing
Plan and execute grassroots and guerrilla marketing initiatives, including:
  • Canvassing programs
  • Street-level outreach
  • Local flyering and postering, where permitted
  • Pop-up activations and brand experiences

Track all local marketing activities with clear ROI measurement, including time spent, cost,
reach, and resulting foot traffic.
Event Planning & In-Store Activations
Develop and execute on-site retail events, including:
  • Vendor days and brand takeovers
  • Product education events
  • Community appreciation days
  • Other events designed to increase customer engagement, traffic, and sales

Partner with vendors carried in-store to create co-branded activations that drive traffic, product
awareness, and customer education.
Coordinate event staffing, training, and execution with the Store Manager and retail team.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with the Marketing Manager to align local initiatives with broader brand campaigns
  • Utilize marketing support for creative assets, promotions, digital amplification, and post-event reporting
  • Collaborate with store leadership to ensure events are properly staffed, executed, and aligned with sales goals

Performance Tracking & Reporting
Track and report on key performance indicators, including:
  • Foot traffic growth
  • Event attendance and participation
  • Number of community partnerships and sponsorships
  • ROI from grassroots, guerrilla, and canvassing efforts
  • Sales results associated with events and local marketing initiatives

Maintain a local marketing calendar and provide weekly and monthly performance recaps.
Success Metrics (KPIs):
  • Measurable increases in weekly and monthly foot traffic
  • Growth in local community presence and event participation
  • Successful execution of store-hosted and off-site events
  • Demonstrated ROI from grassroots marketing, guerrilla marketing, and canvassing efforts
  • Strong collaboration with retail and marketing teams resulting in consistent, on-brand execution

Qualifications:
  • 2-5 years of experience in brand ambassadorship, field marketing, experiential marketing, community marketing, retail marketing, or brand activation
  • Must be 21+ and eligible to obtain required state cannabis agent registration
  • Proven experience executing local events, grassroots campaigns, or community partnerships
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Comfortable working independently in the field while collaborating with internal teams
  • Data-driven mindset with experience tracking results and ROI
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by events
  • Experience in retail, cannabis, CPG, beverage, hospitality, or lifestyle brands
  • Familiarity with local markets and community-based marketing strategies
  • Experience working with vendors or third-party brand partners
