Job description

This Multi-Site Environmental Manager (MSEM) is responsible for supporting environmental compliance at Southern California Amazon Last Mile Delivery Stations in California.
The MSEM assists in implementation and enforcement of standards and policies to support environmental and regulatory compliance and provide guidance for operations, maintenance and construction teams. The MSEM completes environmental inspections and performance analysis, monitor metrics, and assist teams in implementation of Amazon environmental standards.


The MSEM works with internal and external partners, including government entities, contractors, consultants, designers, construction, operations, and other key stakeholders. This MSEM will have up to 8 Amazon Delivery Stations in the region.
This is a hands-on position that includes time spent in the yard and on the floor of busy delivery stations conducting inspections and audits, taking samples, providing guidance to other employees, ensuring proper waste classification, and dealing with multiple departments and all levels of employees throughout the operation.


Key job responsibilities
- Manage and oversee local, state, and federal environmental regulations and Amazon policy.
- Develop strategic programs by integrating with engineering, construction, and operations. Drive an environmentally responsible culture within the organization.
- Lead regulatory agency interactions, permit evaluation and processing, and new process and technology introduction.
- Ensure work performed by contractors, consultants, and employees is completed in accordance with Amazon standards.
- Drive environmental metrics
- Conduct thorough and accurate environmental audits for continuous improvement.
- Prioritize and manage multiple technically complex assignments concurrently.
- Represent Amazon at appropriate levels with governmental agencies and throughout the company.
- Build collaborative relationships with various stakeholders to ensure risks are identified early and managed appropriately.
- Submit time-critical reports to various governmental agencies.
- Complete thorough and accurate environmental incident investigations and associated regulatory reports and develop appropriate corrective actions.
- Up to 50% travel.
A day in the life
- Multi-Site execution of environmental procedures and ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, regional, and local regulations.
- Manage and execute multi-site responsibilities to comply with air emissions, surface water, wastewater, waste and other environmental related laws, regulations, and permits.
- Manage and prepare site-specific environmental reporting to regulators and within Amazon.
- Manage and ensure execution of waste activities, classification, reporting, and permitting requirements
- Execute waste and surface water site inspections.
- Monitor and provide guidance on multi-site performance against applicable environmental regulations, programs and Amazon global standards.
- Analyze environmental metrics and review weekly and monthly trends to determine where improvements are needed.
- Execute site-specific tasks associated with the implementation of Environmental Program Assessment.
- Support the REM in measuring and analyzing each site's performance against requirements in environmental procedures and identify a plan for the site to remedy all deficiencies.
- Execute relevant environmental procedures as dictated by business and regulatory needs.
- Support the REM in evaluating and developing process improvements for identified risks.
- Support the REM with facilitating root cause analyses for all environmental incidents and recommend appropriate corrective actions for network implementation.
- Identify and implement corrective actions to eliminate any observed or at risk non-compliance scenarios.
