QUALITY ASSURANCE TECHNICIAN (2ND SHIFT)


SHORT DESCRIPTION

The Quality Assurance Technician position is based within a fast-paced food manufacturing facility and plays a vital role in ensuring product quality and safety. This role is responsible for conducting routine quality checks on production lines, enforcing Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and supporting the SQF quality system. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and committed to upholding both food safety and company standards. Strong communication skills, the ability to work independently, and a proactive approach to problem-solving are essential for success in this role.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Quality Assurance Technician plays a vital role in ensuring that every product leaving our facility meets the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance. Working within a dynamic, fast-paced food manufacturing environment, the QA Technician is responsible for performing in-process and finished product inspections, verifying product specifications, and ensuring that all procedures align with regulatory and company guidelines. This includes monitoring critical control points, verifying sanitation and allergen control measures, and accurately documenting findings.

In addition to conducting routine quality checks, the QA Technician enforces Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), assists with non-conformance investigations, and supports ongoing compliance with the Safe Quality Food (SQF) program. The role may also involve calibrating testing equipment, collecting samples for lab analysis, and assisting with internal or third-party audits.

The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a deep commitment to food safety and continuous improvement. Success in this role requires clear communication, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to remain calm and focused within a high-speed production environment.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform frequent quality assurance checks for the production lines.
  • Verify and organize production, warehouse, and QA paperwork from the previous day.
  • Sanitation visual checks, verification ATP swabbing, and allergen swabbing.
  • Ensure proper receiving procedures are followed in the warehouse.
  • Assist with monthly sampling as needed.
  • Perform post operation checks to ensure lines are shut down properly and housekeeping is completed.
  • Assist production personnel as needed.
  • Other assigned duties.

SCHEDULE

  • Second Shift: Monday through Friday, 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM

Management will communicate any overtime hours within 24 hours at minimum, in advance, and as needed.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred but is not required.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a QA/QC or production operation role.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as SOPs and QA paperwork.
  • Ability to manage responsibilities with limited supervision.
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and manipulate up to 25 lbs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Proficiency in reading and writing English is required to perform job-related duties effectively.
  • Organized and attention to detail.
