Job description

Are you passionate about leveraging GenAI to simplify the builder experience and accelerate innovation at Amazon scale?
The GenAI Tools & Agentic Ecosystem team is on a mission to make AI agents a natural extension of every Amazon builder's workflow. We are part of Amazon Software Builder Experience (ASBX), the organization that provides the tools and platforms every Amazon engineer uses to build, test, deploy, and operate software. We build the platforms that deliver AI capabilities to builders everywhere they work, and that turn everyday AI usage into the signal that makes every tool better.
We build the infrastructure that lets teams publish new capabilities once and deliver them across every AI coding tool, manage what each builder and agent can access, and drive adoption of the capabilities that make engineers dramatically more productive. And because builders generate millions of AI sessions every day, capturing the complete record of what they asked, what agents did, and what tools they used, we build the infrastructure to responsibly capture, standardize, and learn from that signal, feeding it back into model quality, friction analysis, and how we measure AI fluency across the company.
This is a rare opportunity to lead the teams behind this charter. As an SDM III, you will build and grow high-performing engineering teams, set the technical and organizational vision, and own delivery end to end. You will operate in a fast-moving AI landscape where new models, tools, and agent capabilities arrive faster than the standards to govern them, translate that ambiguity into a concrete roadmap, forge alignment with senior leaders and partner teams across Amazon and AWS, and make the hard prioritization calls that balance rapid iteration against durable platform investment. If you want to define how AI is used by every builder at Amazon, this is the role.
Key job responsibilities
• Hire, develop, and retain a strong, inclusive team of software engineers, and own their performance and career growth
• Set the vision, strategy, and multi-year roadmap for how new AI skills, agents, and integrations reach builders, and how their usage makes those tools better over time
• Build the platform that lets a team publish a skill, agent, or integration once and deliver it to every AI coding tool builders use, and extend it to new coding tools as they emerge
• Own the full data lifecycle for AI coding usage: capture, standardization, de-identification, governance, and vending
• Turn everyday AI coding sessions into signal that improves model quality, benchmarking, friction analysis, and how Amazon measures AI adoption
• Partner with Legal and Security to protect builder data while keeping it useful for the teams that depend on it
• Partner with senior leaders, product, and teams across Amazon and AWS to set direction, secure resources, and align on standards
• Raise the bar on operational excellence, delivery predictability, and engineering quality
About the team
The GenAI Tools & Agentic Ecosystem team is on a mission to make AI agents a natural extension of every Amazon builder's workflow. We build the platforms that let teams create, publish, and discover AI skills and tool integrations - and we enable autonomous agents to tap into Amazon's vast internal ecosystem on behalf of builders. We are part of Amazon Software Builder Experience (ASBX), the organization that provides the tools and platforms every Amazon engineer uses to build, test, deploy, and operate software.
