We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to provide hands-on technical leadership for the Enterprise Decision Engine (EDE), a platform that powers intelligent, real-time decisioning and personalized customer experiences across the enterprise. This senior individual contributor will lead the design and delivery of strategic platform capabilities, translating complex business requirements into scalable, resilient, and maintainable solutions using Java, Spring, SpEL, and modern web technologies. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with strong ownership, thrives in ambiguous environments, drives architectural direction, and influences engineering decisions across teams. The successful candidate will partner closely with product, architecture, engineering, and business stakeholders to solve complex technical challenges, establish engineering best practices, and elevate the technical capabilities of the broader organization through mentorship and technical leadership. This role is focused on platform evolution, innovation, and engineering excellence, with no direct people-management responsibilities.

Job Description

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience developing, delivering, and supporting enterprise-scale applications and platforms.
  • Strong hands-on experience designing and developing scalable applications and services using Java and Spring.
  • Experience designing, building, and operating distributed systems, APIs, event-driven architectures, and microservice-based platforms at scale.
  • Proven ability to take complex business and technical requirements, evaluate tradeoffs, and translate them into scalable, maintainable solutions and technical roadmaps.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in ambiguous environments, independently drive technical solutions, and deliver complex initiatives from concept through production.
  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies, object-oriented design, automated testing, CI/CD practices, observability, performance optimization, and production operations.
  • Experience with cloud-native technologies, distributed architectures, and modern application development practices.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-team technical initiatives, influence architectural direction, drive engineering decisions, and align stakeholders around technical solutions.
  • Experience mentoring engineers through technical leadership, design reviews, knowledge sharing, and the establishment of engineering best practices.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively engage engineering, product, architecture, and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the technical solution for complex EDE and ACRE capabilities from requirements through production delivery, including solution design, implementation strategy, and operational readiness.
  • Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into scalable platform capabilities, technical specifications, and implementable work for the broader engineering team.
  • Design, develop, and enhance platform services and applications using Java, Spring, SpEL, Next.js, and related technologies.
  • Drive architectural evolution and continuous improvement of the Enterprise Decision Engine (EDE) platform, establishing technical direction, evaluating tradeoffs, and guiding implementation across related services.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, product managers, architects, business partners, and cross-functional teams to identify requirements and deliver solutions aligned with business objectives.
  • Drive engineering excellence through technical leadership, design reviews, code reviews, prototyping efforts, and the adoption of modern development practices.
  • Mentor junior engineers through technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and the establishment of reusable patterns and best practices.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including solution designs, implementation details, architectural decisions, and operational procedures.
  • Improve platform reliability, scalability, performance, security, and operational health through observability, automation, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support software deployment, release management, production operations, and incident response activities to ensure reliable delivery of platform capabilities.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, AI-assisted engineering practices, market trends, and industry best practices to drive innovation and accelerate delivery.
  • Exercise independent judgment and technical leadership when solving complex engineering challenges.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Spring Expression Language (SpEL), rules engines, decision frameworks, or configuration-driven business logic platforms.

  • Experience developing modern web applications using Next.js, React, TypeScript, or comparable frontend technologies.
  • Knowledge of decisioning platforms, recommendation systems, rules engines, experimentation frameworks, AI/ML-driven solutions, or real-time data processing systems.
  • Experience with event-driven architectures, asynchronous processing, streaming technologies, and cloud-native platform patterns.
  • Experience leveraging AI-assisted software development tools and specification-driven engineering practices to improve delivery speed and quality.
  • Demonstrated success leading technical initiatives across multiple teams and influencing engineering best practices.
