At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We're working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!

This role is part of Blue Origin corporate functions, providing centralized support across Blue Origin business unit teams, functions, and locations.
We are a team of collaborators, doers, and problem-solvers who are relentlessly committed to a culture of safety. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable space flight. Join us in lowering the cost of access to space and enabling Blue Origin's vision of millions of people living and working in space to benefit Earth.
This role is part of Human Resources Technology Operations, where we're building and maintaining the digital systems that support Blue Origin's people and workforce. HR Technology Operations is focused on delivering reliable, innovative, and scalable technology solutions that enhance the employee experience and enable HR to operate at the speed of our mission.
We're seeking a hands-on Software Engineer who is eager to build and implement HR technology solutions while growing their technical skills. This role emphasizes practical implementation - someone who can contribute to smart solutions across Workday, Cornerstone, and LMS platforms or help build custom solutions, then test and deploy them. You'll spend most of your time turning wrenches alongside senior engineers, developing the architectural thinking needed to ensure your solutions scale. The ideal candidate is passionate about improving the day-to-day lives of employees at Blue Origin.
Passion for our mission and vision is required!
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Contribute to the development and deployment of digital employee experiences across HR technology platforms including Cornerstone, LMS tools, and Workday.
  • Assist in building integrations between HR enterprise systems (Workday, Cornerstone, LMS) and internal/external applications using RESTful APIs, SOAP, GraphQL, and message queues.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including HR business partners, data analysts, and ET stakeholders to translate people-operations requirements into actionable software solutions.
  • Help identify feature gaps between enterprise HR systems and contribute to remediation plans and custom solutions that meet end users where they are.
  • Write efficient and maintainable code in support of enterprise-scale HR systems and services.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation for integrations between enterprise-level HR applications.
  • Utilize software DevOps technologies and CI/CD best practices to support software automation and deployment.
  • Contribute to automations that reduce manual HR operational toil and streamline workflows across the HR technology stack.
  • Work alongside SRE teams and apply SRE principles to help ensure HR systems meet reliability and availability standards.
  • Participate in code reviews and technical discussions, learning from and contributing to the team's engineering practices.
  • Stay current with emerging HR technology trends, AI/ML advancements, and digital experience methodologies.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of proven experience writing software and deploying it to production environments.
  • Working proficiency in languages such as Java, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Experience developing or consuming APIs in a production environment.
  • Familiarity with at least one HR technology platform such as Workday, Cornerstone OnDemand, or similar LMS/HCM systems.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals such as algorithms and common data structures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for clear documentation and cross-team collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated understanding of deploying web interfaces using React, Angular, or similar frameworks.
  • Exposure to containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, and Amazon EKS.
  • Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools such as Datadog.
  • Interest in leveraging AI tools and integrating AI-powered solutions into software development workflows.
  • Experience with or exposure to Workday integrations (Workday Studio, EIBs, or Workday Extend).
  • Familiarity with Cornerstone OnDemand configuration or LMS administration.
  • Working knowledge of the Atlassian product suite (Jira, Confluence) and GitLab for project management, documentation, and CI/CD workflows.
  • Experience with Databricks or similar data engineering platforms.
