Overview

Tyndale is expanding our AI and automation capabilities and seeking an experienced AI Agent & Automation Engineer to build production solutions that transform how work gets done across the business.

This is a senior, hands-on engineering role focused on designing, building, deploying, and supporting business automations and AI agents in AWS. You'll combine Python development, APIs, enterprise integrations, workflow automation, and agentic AI to turn manual or fragmented business processes into secure, scalable solutions. From workflow-oriented automation to advanced AI agents capable of executing business tasks, you'll own solutions through development, deployment, monitoring, and ongoing production support.

HYBRID/REMOTE: Tyndale supports a strong work-life balance. This opportunity requires onsite work a minimum of 1 day per week, and 4 days per week remotely. To be considered, candidates must reside within a commutable distance from our corporate headquarters in Pipersville, PA (Bucks County) or our location in Houston, TX (City Centre).

Responsibilities
  • Design, build, test, deploy, and support production business automations and AI agents using Python, Amazon Quick Automate, Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, APIs, and other AWS services.
  • Develop maintainable Python components for business logic, data transformations, API interactions, workflow orchestration, and agent capabilities.
  • Design reusable APIs and agent tools using REST/OpenAPI, AWS Lambda, Amazon API Gateway, AgentCore Gateway, and related technologies.
  • Build integrations across enterprise applications and data sources using APIs, native connectors, webhooks, events, authentication, and event-driven or asynchronous workflow patterns.
  • Partner directly with business stakeholders to understand processes and pain points and translate business requirements into effective automation and agent solutions that deliver measurable value.
  • Move automations and agents reliably through Development, UAT, and Production using source control, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, versioning, testing, approvals, and documented rollback processes.
  • Build security, reliability, and observability into production solutions, including IAM and least-privilege access, secrets management, authentication/authorization, guardrails, audit logging, monitoring, exception handling, and cost awareness.
  • Monitor automation and agent performance, including execution status, failures, tool calls, latency, access denials, usage, and cost using Amazon CloudWatch, OpenTelemetry, and related capabilities.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and continuously improve the reliability, scalability, performance, and supportability of automation and AI solutions.
  • Serve as a technical resource for assigned business processes and systems, identifying opportunities for automation, leading process improvements, and helping teams adopt new AI-enabled capabilities.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and knowledge transfer to peers and project teams while helping establish scalable automation and AI engineering practices.
  • Maintain clear technical designs, workflow documentation, operational runbooks, and other documentation needed to effectively support production solutions.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent practical experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in automation engineering, software engineering, cloud engineering, integration engineering, business systems, or a similar technical role required.
  • Hands-on experience designing, building, deploying, and supporting production business automations required.
  • Strong hands-on Python development experience required, including automation logic, API integrations, data transformations, testing, error handling, and logging.
  • Hands-on AWS experience building automation and integration solutions using services such as Lambda, Step Functions, EventBridge, API Gateway, S3, IAM, Secrets Manager, CloudWatch, or similar services.
  • Strong experience with REST APIs and enterprise integrations, including authentication/authorization, webhooks, events, error handling, and asynchronous or event-driven integration patterns.
  • Experience with production software delivery practices including source control, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, testing, multi-environment deployment, monitoring, logging, security, and operational support.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills with the ability to understand business processes, translate requirements into technical solutions, and collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Experience building and supporting enterprise AI agents or agentic applications that execute business tasks in production preferred, including experience with Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, Bedrock Guardrails, or comparable technologies.
  • Experience with workflow automation platforms, AI agent testing/evaluation, containerization and operational tooling, or enterprise AI governance practices preferred.
