Job description

Amazon Elastic Container Registry (ECR) serves millions of customers who collectively pull billions of container images to power some of the world's most critical applications. We're looking for an experienced product leader to define and drive the next phase of ECR's evolution, shaping how organizations store, manage, distribute, and secure container artifacts at scale.
In this role, you will own product strategy and roadmap for ECR, working backwards from customer needs to define what we build and why. You'll engage directly with customers ranging from startups to the world's largest enterprises, translate their pain points into product opportunities, and partner with engineering to bring solutions to market. This is a high-visibility role requiring coordination across AWS container services, security, sales, partner, and go-to-market teams.
You'll thrive here if you combine deep customer empathy with strong technical intuition. You should be energized by ambiguity, comfortable navigating trade-offs across competing priorities, and skilled at building conviction through written narratives and data. Experience with containers, developer tooling, or supply chain security is valuable but not required, intellectual curiosity and a bias for action matter more.
Key job responsibilities
* Product Vision & Strategy: Define and communicate a compelling product vision, working backwards from customer segments, jobs-to-be-done, and emerging industry trends (e.g., software supply chain security, AI/ML workloads, multi-cloud distribution)
* Full Lifecycle Ownership: Manage the product lifecycle end-to-end - from opportunity identification and PR/FAQ through development, launch, adoption, and iteration
* Customer & Market Insight: Lead user research, analyze product usage data, and monitor competitive and open-source ecosystem dynamics to identify high-impact opportunities
* Cross-Functional Leadership: Partner with engineering, UX, sales, solutions architecture, partner teams, and AWS service teams to align on priorities and deliver outcomes
* Go-to-Market Execution: Build GTM plans that equip field teams, partner organizations, and developer advocates to drive awareness and adoption
* Metrics & Goal Setting: Establish goals and KPIs; use data to measure progress, inform roadmap decisions, and communicate results to senior leadership
A day in the life
* Real ownership: You own the roadmap and set the vision - this isn't a project management role
* Massive scale & impact: ECR is foundational infrastructure for container workloads across AWS, touching virtually every industry vertical
* Dedicated engineering team: You'll partner with a strong, established engineering team ready to build
* Bottoms-up innovation culture: You propose ideas, build the case, and bring them to life
About the team
We are an established team with over a decade of experience helping customers build with containers on AWS. We're building the next generation of container artifact storage and management - addressing challenges in security, performance, cost optimization, and developer experience. Our team values continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and mentorship. We support flexible work arrangements that balance team needs with individual well-being.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 7+ years of working as a Technical Product Manager experience
- 5+ years of full product life cycle experience
- Experience delivering large-scale SaaS, PaaS or LaaS products where you are responsible for the full product lifecycle, from concept through GTM (go to market)
- Experience in written and verbal communication skills to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with container technologies (Docker, containerd, OCI standards, Kubernetes, Helm) or container registry / artifact management systems
- Familiarity with software supply chain security concepts (image signing, vulnerability scanning, SBOM, policy-as-code)
- Experience in developer tools, platform engineering, or infrastructure product management
- Understanding of the CNCF landscape and open-source ecosystem dynamics
- MBA or technical graduate degree
- Experience working at AWS or in a high-growth cloud services environment
