Job description

The Cloud Solutions Engineer translates mission and technical requirements into implementable cloud solutions. The role works across architecture, infrastructure, applications, data, cybersecurity, and operations to develop practical solutions that can be engineered, secured, deployed, operated, and sustained. This is a hands-on technical role requiring direct experience configuring, deploying, troubleshooting, and optimizing cloud and hybrid-cloud environments. Responsibilities * Engage with government customers and mission stakeholders to understand operational needs, technical requirements, constraints, and desired outcomes.
* Translate mission requirements into cloud solution designs spanning infrastructure, applications, data, networking, security, and operations.
* Develop solution architectures, logical and physical diagrams, technical approaches, bills of materials, migration plans, and implementation roadmaps.
* Evaluate Azure, AWS, on-premises, and hybrid services and select appropriate technologies based on mission fit.
* Provision, configure, test, and troubleshoot cloud infrastructure and platform services, including compute, storage, networking, identity, security, monitoring, and backup/recovery capabilities.
* Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code (IaC) solutions using tools such as Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates, CloudFormation, or comparable automation frameworks.
* Configure and support cloud networking, including virtual networks, subnets, route tables, security groups/network security groups, firewalls, private endpoints, DNS, load balancers, virtual private network connectivity, and hybrid connectivity.
* Implement and troubleshoot identity and access management (IAM) capabilities, including role-based access control, least-privilege access, privileged access, service identities, secrets management, and multifactor authentication integrations.
* Design secure integration patterns among applications, APIs, data platforms, identity services, networks, and enterprise services.
* Work with software and DevSecOps teams to ensure solution designs can be implemented through automated pipelines.
* Build, configure, and support continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines for infrastructure and application deployments; integrate automated testing, security scanning, configuration validation, and deployment approvals as required.
* Deploy, configure, and support containerized workloads and orchestration platforms, such as Kubernetes, Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service, Azure Kubernetes Service, Docker, or equivalent technologies.
* Configure cloud logging, monitoring, alerting, dashboards, and observability solutions; analyze system performance, availability, capacity, and security events to identify and resolve technical issues.
* Perform hands-on technical assessments, migration activities, environment validation, root-cause analysis, and remediation for cloud and hybrid-cloud systems.
* Identify technical dependencies, risks, assumptions, constraints, and opportunities for reuse and standardization.
* Support prototypes, proof-of-concepts, technical demonstrations, and engineering evaluations.
* Assist capture, modernization, and program teams with technical solution development, estimates, technical narratives, and transition plans.
* Coordinate technical reviews with cybersecurity, infrastructure, data, software, and mission stakeholders.
* Create and maintain implementation documentation, configuration baselines, runbooks, standard operating procedures, and technical diagrams. Qualifications Required Qualifications * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related discipline; equivalent experience may be considered.
* 12+ years of progressively responsible infrastructure and cloud engineering experience, solutions engineering, systems engineering, or technical architecture.
* Hands-on knowledge of Azure and/or AWS and strong understanding of hybrid-cloud architectures.
* Demonstrated hands-on experience deploying and administering cloud services in Azure, AWS, or both, rather than solely developing conceptual architectures.
* Experience using IaC and configuration-management tools—such as Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates, CloudFormation, Ansible, or equivalent—to deploy and manage repeatable environments.
* Experience configuring cloud networking, including virtual networks, routing, network security controls, DNS, private connectivity, firewalls, and connectivity between cloud and on-premises environments.
* Hands-on experience implementing cloud IAM, role-based access control, secrets management, and security controls consistent with least-privilege and Zero Trust principles.
* Experience building, maintaining, or supporting CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment workflows.
* Working knowledge of Linux and/or Windows administration, scripting, and automation using tools such as PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar languages.
* Experience deploying, operating, or troubleshooting containerized applications and container orchestration platforms.
* Experience configuring and using monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability tools to diagnose infrastructure or application issues.
* Ability to design across infrastructure, networking, security, applications, data, and operations rather than focusing on a single technology layer.
* Experience producing architecture diagrams, technical documentation, solution designs, implementation plans, and operational runbooks.
* Strong understanding of DevSecOps, automation, APIs, containers, IAM, Zero Trust, observability, and cloud security.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* Strong problem-solving and requirements-analysis capabilities.
* Must reside within a 75-mile radius of Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville AL or be willing to relocate prior to starting date.

* Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government Security Clearance. An active clearance will be required to start.  Preferred Qualifications * Experience with Department of War (DoW) mission systems and federal acquisition environments.
* Experience with IL4/5/6, Azure Government, AWS GovCloud, or similar controlled environments.
* Experience implementing security technical implementation guides, configuration baselines, vulnerability remediation, audit logging, and continuous-monitoring capabilities in cloud environments.
* Experience migrating applications, data, or infrastructure from on-premises environments to Azure, AWS, or hybrid-cloud platforms.
* Experience with enterprise identity services, such as Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, Active Directory Federation Services, or comparable identity platforms.
* Experience with managed databases, data platforms, API gateways, message queues, and event-driven integration services.
* Cloud or architecture certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, or TOGAF.
* Technical certifications in Kubernetes, Terraform, security, DevSecOps, or relevant cloud platforms.
* Experience supporting technical proposals, engineering estimates, modernization roadmaps, or capture activities.
* Preferred experience with SPECTRO Cloud, including deployment, configuration, administration, and integration of SPECTRO Cloud capabilities within hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
* Preferred experience architecting, deploying, and integrating SPECTRO Cloud as part of secure hybrid and multi-cloud environments, including platform orchestration, workload management, automation, and integration with government mission systems.
