Job Description Summary
Job Description
The Lead Travel Technician will report to the Travel Team Leader and is instrumental in the initial startup, training, and operations of newly acquired sites and improvements to our sustainment sites within the Amazon account. As a Lead Travel Technician, you will lead the training of service technicians in the installation and repair of automated packaging and distribution equipment. You will support Maintenance teams throughout the organization by designing solutions for difficult problems and managing projects. You will help train and mentor service technicians, contract technicians, influence safety culture and represent C&W Services with clients are senior leaders.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Promote a safe working environment by following all safety procedures
  • Travel to all North American sites to support a variety of functions including holding training sessions, audit and evaluation completion, hands on support work, and sev event support.
  • Subject matter expert in a minimum one of three focus areas Base Building, Amazon Robotics, Material Handling Equipment.
  • Teach conveyor systems and troubleshooting for site specific material handling equipment with technicians for our new launch sites.
  • Provide support and recommendations to field teams on standard work, complicated repairs, and effective communication with the operational staff.
  • Provide support and guidance through troubleshooting during high impact sev events.
  • Train and mentor new hires.
  • Create and implement audits around preventative maintenance procedures for new sites.
  • Teach installation and troubleshooting of relay logic, ladder diagrams, control components, photo-eyes, motor starters, limit switches, proximity sensors, solenoids, etc.
  • Create reports to communicate work orders with data including labor hours, equipment maintenance and parts used.
  • Lead and manage equipment inspections and escalate issues to client.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship across all facilities within the account
  • Develop training plans for service technicians
  • Develop work plans for emergency repair of critical assets
  • Move up to 49lbs as well as stand and walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours, with or without reasonable accommodation

Basic Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience working with automated conveyors and controls
  • 5+ years of experience with electrical and electronic principles, National Electrical Code (NEC), and industrial electronics
  • 5+ years of experience conducting preventative maintenance
  • 5 + years of experience reading blueprints and schematics
  • 5 + years of experience with Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) programs
  • 3+ years of work order management
  • Ability to travel nationwide 90% 3-4 weeks at a time
  • Subject Matter expert in either Material handling equipment, Amazon Robotics, base building maintenance.
  • Excellent time management and ability to work independently

Preferred Qualifications
  • Associates or higher degree from a vocational school or college with a focus in the Mechanical or Electrical field
  • 4+ years apprenticeship or equivalent experience in the Mechanical or Electrical field
  • Previous leadership experience
  • Previous vendor management experience
  • Experience with robotic maintenance
  • Experience using work order and parts management software.
  • Current TAC trainer or AR trainer.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Must have ability to reach, kneel, squat, climb steps/ladders, frequently lift a maximum of 50 lbs. of equipment
  • Ability to perform tasks wearing required PPE, including but not limited to a bump cap/hard hat, face shield, safety glasses, and composite-toed boots
  • Involves movement between departments, floors, and properties to facilitate work, between 6 to 12 miles per day
  • Work in an environment with fluctuating temperatures
  • Regularly required to type on a computer or stand-up desk and for 1-2 hours per day
