Job description

We're an Amazon DSP (Delivery Service Partner) in the Rolla, MO, and Fenton, MO area seeking a full-time DSP Operations Manager for our Rolla, MO location!

In this position, you will work directly under company ownership to support our operation of 20-50+ daily routes and our fleet of trucks. The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing our Amazon delivery business, ensuring efficiency, safety, and profitability in daily operations. This person will manage Driver Associates, Dispatchers, and admin assistants, and act as a liaison between all departments, Amazon corporate staff, quality control, and company ownership. The Operations Manager will be focused on business strategy, fleet maintenance, route planning, occupational safety, employee relations, and development.

Ideal Candidate Possesses:

  • Experience through proven success in the management of other logistics companies (Amazon, FedEx, UPS, etc) or fast-paced environments such as restaurants or retail is a plus.
  • Professional and consistent communication skills
  • Self-motivation - will proactively take action when something is not right
  • Big-picture thinking with strong organizational skills and detail orientation
  • Familiarity with working with a large team and acting in a motivational capacity
  • Awareness of the financial impact of daily decisions and performance on the organization as a whole
  • Punctuality and reliability, leading by example to foster a culture of safety and accountability

Responsibilities

  • Maintain consistently high Amazon scorecard metrics and KPIs in all areas of company performance
  • Organize delivery routes to maximize resources, staffing and vehicle availability, and profitability, adjusting temporarily or permanently as needed
  • Ensure a timely dispatch daily: arrive early to perform pre-dispatch duties, manage Dispatchers, collaborate with Driver Associates in the efficient loading of packages, conduct daily team meetings
  • Champion a culture of safety through quality training and regular follow-up
  • Facilitate communication between DAs, Ops Managers in Training, HR, Amazon terminal staff and company ownership throughout the day
  • Organize and oversee proper support to all areas of operation in the case of staffing challenges, truck breakdowns, employee disputes, etc.
  • Work with HR staff to onboard new hires and maintain up-to-date personnel files
  • Deliver performance reviews and constructive feedback to employees; facilitate performance improvement, disciplinary action, and termination when necessary
  • Work with Mechanics to keep vehicles in excellent working condition
  • Maintain vehicle paperwork and files of preventative and corrective maintenance
  • Ensure that all DAs are consistently completing pre & post-trip inspections
  • Ensure complete and accurate reporting on all vehicle accidents; file and manage insurance claims when necessary
  • Anticipate and facilitate corrections to staffing, vehicle allocation, and route assignments based on the availability of resources
  • Analyze data from reports and direct observation of employee performance to suggest and implement improvements within the organization
  • Resolve customer service issues as necessary

Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age or older (for insurance purposes)
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Three years of Amazon or similar logistics leadership experience required
  • Basic understanding of truck mechanics preferred (Dodge Ram Promaster-size vehicles)
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to act quickly in high-pressure situations
  • Professional and consistent communication

Schedule:

  • Day shift + One weekend day
  • On call
