Job description

Are you obsessed with data, partner success, taking action, and changing the game? If you have a whole lot of hustle and a touch of nerd, come work with Pattern! We want you to use your skills to push one of the fastest-growing companies headquartered in the US to the top of the list.
Pattern accelerates brands on global ecommerce marketplaces leveraging proprietary technology and AI. Utilizing more than 66 trillion data points, sophisticated machine learning and AI models, Pattern optimizes and automates all levers of ecommerce growth for global brands, including advertising, content management, logistics and fulfillment, pricing, forecasting and customer service. Hundreds of global brands depend on Pattern's ecommerce acceleration platform every day to drive profitable revenue growth across 60+ global marketplaces-including Amazon, Walmart.com, Target.com, eBay, Tmall, TikTok Shop, JD, and Mercado Libre. To learn more, visit pattern.com or email [email protected].
Pattern has been named one of the fastest growing tech companies headquartered in North America by Deloitte and one of best-led companies by Inc. We place employee experience at the center of our business model and have been recognized as one of Newsweek's Global Most Loved Workplaces®.
We're looking for a Head of Procurement, Ops to own vendor management and sourcing for Pattern's growing U.S. warehouse network. Our operations network brings products in, prepares them for sale, and ships them into marketplaces on behalf of the brands we partner with - a high-velocity, high-SKU-count fulfillment environment where packaging and supplies consumption scales directly with order volume. As we grow from 4 facilities today toward roughly 10 over the next four years, with weekly volume more than tripling, you'll own the vendor relationship and spend for consumable packaging supplies directly, while thoughtfully evolving how we source and manage supplies as the network grows - without overbuilding process, tools, or headcount ahead of actual need.
What is a day in the life of a Head of Procurement, Ops?
  • Own the end-to-end sourcing strategy for consumable packaging supplies (corrugated boxes, poly bags/mailers, bubble wrap, paper void fill, labels/stickers, and adjacent categories), including evaluating our current single-distributor model and recommending the right structure as volume grows
  • Lead supplier and vendor negotiations, RFPs, and contract structuring to secure favorable pricing, service levels, and supply resilience
  • Build a simple, repeatable playbook for standing up supplies procurement at each new warehouse launch, and right-size inventory and reorder logic for facilities of varying sizes
  • Own the supplies spend budget across the network; identify and execute cost-reduction opportunities and track cost-per-unit-shipped as a key efficiency metric
  • Establish spend visibility and reporting by site, category, and supplier
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for our supplies distributor(s) and suppliers, managing performance, service levels, and day-to-day issue resolution
  • Select and/or implement lightweight tools for inventory tracking, demand forecasting, and purchase order management, sized to our current footprint and volume
  • Partner closely with Warehouse/Site Operations, Finance, Real Estate/Facilities, and Sustainability/ESG stakeholders on consumption patterns, budgeting, site launches, and packaging material choices

What will I need to thrive in this role?
  • 5+ years of procurement, strategic sourcing, or supply chain experience, including managing indirect/consumables spend and vendor relationships directly
  • Direct experience sourcing packaging or consumable supplies (corrugated, poly, mailers, or similar) strongly preferred; ecommerce, fulfillment, 3PL, or distribution-center experience highly valued
  • Comfortable operating as a hands-on individual contributor - this role is about doing the work of sourcing and vendor management, not managing a large team
  • Demonstrated success negotiating supplier/distributor contracts and managing supplier performance
  • Experience with inventory management or procurement systems (ERP, WMS-adjacent tools, or dedicated procurement platforms)
  • Comfortable working with data to drive decisions - spend analysis, forecasting, cost-per-unit tracking
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Willingness to travel regularly to warehouse sites (30-50%, increasing during new site launches)

What will make me stand out during the interview process?
  • Experience evolving a company's sourcing model from a distributor-managed approach toward more direct ownership, at a pace matched to actual volume and complexity
  • Experience procuring for a growing multi-site network, in a lean, resource-conscious way
  • Familiarity with ecommerce marketplace fulfillment requirements
  • Experience managing supplier relationships across multiple U.S. regions with varying freight/lead-time dynamics

We are looking for individuals who are:
Game Changers - A game changer is someone who looks at problems with an open mind and shares new ideas with team members, regularly reassesses existing plans and attaches a realistic timeline to goals, makes profitable, productive, and innovative contributions, and actively pursues improvements to Pattern's processes and outcomes.
Data Fanatics - A data fanatic is someone who recognizes problems and seeks to understand them through data, draws unbiased conclusions based on data that lead to actionable solutions, and continues to track the effects of the solutions using data.
Partner Obsessed - An individual who is partner obsessed clearly explains the status of projects to partners and relies on constructive feedback, actively listens to partner's expectations, and delivers results that exceed them, prioritizes the needs of your partners, and takes the time to create a personable experience for those interacting with Pattern.
Team of Doers - Someone who is a part of a team of doers uplifts team members and recognizes their specific contributions, takes initiative to help in any circumstance, actively contributes to supporting improvements, and holds themselves accountable to the team as well as to partners.
What is the hiring process?
  • Initial phone interview with Pattern's talent acquisition team
  • Video interview with a hiring manager
  • Video case study interview with the Operations and Supply Chain team
  • Onsite interviews with panels of department leaders
  • Professional reference checks
  • Executive review
  • Offer
