Join our dynamic team and become a critical technical leader who ensures the heartbeat of our global infrastructure remains strong and resilient. In this pivotal role, you'll be the guardian of our data center operations, driving reliability and performance while optimizing operational efficiency across complex technical environments.

Data Center Facility Manger role acts as Amazon’s front line when it comes to hands‑on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting. They will maintain, operate, and troubleshoot mission‑critical data center facility equipment including electrical support equipment such as stand‑by diesel generators and related fuel systems, 3 phase electrical systems that include but not limited to switchgear, UPS units, PDUs, and wet cell batteries and associated systems. Mechanical equipment includes CRAC units, centrifugal chillers, cooling towers/water chemical systems, air handlers and associated systems, pumps, and motors. Additional support equipment is included in the scope of the role which includes fire suppression systems, building automation systems, and general facilities equipment.

This role will be physically based at our new MDD Pecos, TX site.

Key job responsibilities
  • Oversee all aspects of the data center's critical infrastructure. Ensure that all work performed within the space is done to high quality and without impact to internal/external customers
  • Oversee the safety, security, availability, quality, and performance of the team, while driving a positive customer experience across multiple shift schedules
  • Manage teams of 24x7 engineering technicians and Facility Managers in all facets of their career
  • Engage in improvement projects, often requiring reaching out to a variety of support teams, and drive them from conception to completion
  • Ensure staffing levels are maintained and grow with expansions
  • Be actively involved in ongoing construction activities
  • Coordinate daily with a multitude of third‑party vendors ensuring adherence to contracted SLAs
  • Effectively and efficiently manage the operations budget and expenditures
Basic Qualifications
  • 3+ years of Microsoft Office products and applications experience
  • 5+ years of work in a management position with 5 or more direct reports experience
  • 3+ years of engineering, installation, or startup/commissioning of electrical and mechanical systems experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of the electrical and mechanical systems involved in critical data center operations including systems such as feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS units, PDU units, chillers, pumps, air handling units, and CRAC units
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or 3+ years of relevant work in a data center or other critical environment experience
  • Experience communicating technical details verbally and in writing
  • Can work in cramped spaces or in elevated locations while adhering to health & safety guidelines
  • Experience conducting interviews and making effective hiring decisions
