Amazon LEO is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Amazon LEO will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.

Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S

citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Key job responsibilities
* Develop highly reliable flight software, ranging from low level control to autonomous system behaviors for RTOS and/or bare-metal environments
* Develop supporting test, validation, and simulation software infrastructure
* Participate in the full life-cycle of software development, from requirements definition and design all the way to deployment and maintenance in orbit
* Work closely with software, hardware and systems engineers to support design, build, integration, test, and deployment of high speed optical communication systems
A day in the life
As a Software Engineer, you will be a member of the Optical Inter-Satellite Link team, focusing on the design, implementation, and verification of software systems to control and monitor high-speed optical communications

You will be responsible for identifying top level requirements and ensuring high quality and innovative designs are pursued, while also supporting other Amazon LEO colleagues with improving embedded system designs.
About the team
We are looking for a software engineer who combines technical and analytical capabilities with a demonstrated ability to get the right things done quickly and effectively. You will work with a multi-disciplinary team of top-notch engineers and collaborate closely with the optical, electrical, firmware, and opto-mechanical development teams.
You should be comfortable with some degree of ambiguity and relish the idea of solving problems that haven't been solved at scale before
